Today, at my retail job, I tried on one of our hats. My co-worker told me I shouldn't because I could get lice. I laughed it off and told her I didn't believe her. Man, do I believe her now. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, this guy I like let me wear his favorite baseball hat that he never takes off. I returned it to him later, only to find out I have lice. FML
Today, I had a snowball fight with a friend. In the midst of the game, I stole her hat and put it on my head, ignoring her pleas. Apparently, she was trying to say she had head lice. I can now verify that. FML
Today, I got head lice, so I went to a store to buy medicated shampoo. When checking out the cashier saw my shampoo and asked me to leave immediately to protect the other customers. He didn't let me buy the shampoo. FML
Wage slave
Today, my boss called me into his office. I thought I was getting promoted because my sales had been really high lately. My boss shut his door behind me and asked me if I could comb his hair with a lice comb to get rid of his lice. I had to do it to keep my job. FML
Today, I was tutoring kids at an elementary school. One kid messed up my hair. I said, "Why'd you do that??" He said, "I have lice, now you have lice too!" FML
Today, I work at a food joint as a chef, and a customer found a long strand of hair in her food. The manager blamed me, even though I'm bald. FML
Today, I needed to buy a new helmet. When I got to the sports shop, there was only one left in my size and preferred color. Thirty minutes after buying it, my head starts itching. Turns out I paid $40 for lice. FML
Wig out
Today, a little girl asked me if I was wearing a toupee. It's my real hair. FML
Fashion police
Today, I was in a clothing store with my girlfriend. I saw the ugliest hat ever on a hat shelf, tried it on and said to my girlfriend, "Look at this ugly hat, it's absolutely horrible. It's even dirty." An old woman stood next to me said, "Well no wonder it's ugly, it's mine." FML
Today, I got a haircut, and after thanking the stylist I went up front to pay. The lady behind the counter took one look at me, smiled, and said, "Well, now you'll need a hat." FML

That's because customers try things on, it's most likely not the stores fault or the supplier. This is why you should wash anything you buy before wearing it.

Don't worry OP! Just purchase a life remover packet and it will be gone soon! On the bright side you now know you can trust your co-worker :)

Get that shit sorted out QUICK!!! I don't work in retail so idk if the health inspector comes to stores like that. If they do that sucks.

Uhhh... is there any way you could post which store you work for and where it's located so we can all make sure to never EVER shop there?

It's really not the store's fault. Unfortunately, loads of people have lice and aren't aware of it (yet), or don't get proper treatment soon enough. Lice really don't survive for a long time when they're not on someone's head, you'll usually get them through actual physical contact with someone else (which is why kids get them easily, they tend to be in close physical contact with other kids while playing.) When you try on a hat that has been tried on by somebody who has lice, say, an hour ago, there's a chance that some of the lice stayed in the hat and might get on your head. This can really happen anywhere where a lot of people try on hats, OP just had bad luck, there's not much the store can do to change this.

How do you know it's from the hat?
