Today, at my job as a produce clerk at a grocery store, I had an entire conversation with my coworker about how nice the new cabbage boxes are. This is all it takes to thrill me these days. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, at work as a cashier, I was scanning cantaloupes. The man buying them then looked me straight in the eye and said, "Nice melons." FML
Today, I noticed we had gotten new colored toothpicks at the restaurant I work at. That was the highlight of my day. Apparently my life has gotten so boring I get excited over colored toothpicks. FML
Code pink
Today, I was working at a grocery store when a couple of my co-workers called a code pink in aisle 22, which means there was an attractive woman in that aisle. After hearing about how hot she was, I went over to see her for myself. It was my mom. FML
Today, I bought some mandarins so that there would be at least one healthy thing in my shopping basket, and I wouldn’t feel like such a fat lard at the checkout. FML
Simple pleasures
Today, at work, I overrode the limit on my forklift, allowing me to carry four pallets instead of two. Then I was able to place them all within a ten-foot radius, giving a massive boost to my efficiency. My excitement faded when I realized that was actually the high point of my day/week/month. FML
Bored
Today, I was so bored at my job as a receptionist that I actually got excited when the phone rang. FML
Highlight of the week
Today, I work at McDonald's. The entire crew, myself included, got visibly excited that we had new trash cans and dust pans. FML
Who am I?
Today, I went to a grocery store after work, exhausted. I nodded politely at a woman who smiled at me repeatedly. I realized at checkout she thought I was someone she knew. I nodded through a full conversation without knowing who I was pretending to be. FML
Flowers (Nothing But)
Today, I bought flowers with my groceries at the grocery store. After the cashier scanned them, he handed them back to me so they wouldn't get crushed in my cart. It was then that I realized he's the first man to ever hand me flowers. FML
Thanks, I guess
Today, my kids and husband brought me a bunch of ornamental cabbages for my birthday, rather than flowers. Why? Because, "you're more of a cabbage sort of person." Ah well, guess it's an improvement on last year when they forgot entirely. FML

It's really not that odd tbh. When at work we talk about the same kind of stuff. It's the thing most of us have most in common. Yes I work in a grocery store too.

I get excited everyday when the mail comes. It's something to look forward too and you can unwrap it. I get especially excited if I get a package, like Christmas excited but Sunday's are a bummer.

You need vacation.

Unless you & your coworker use your "imagination" (like Spongebob), then the boxes would be cool.

Boxes excite everyone. Remember when we were young, we got inside boxes and pretended they were a spaceship or a car? Ah, those were the days.

So, how's the cabbage? Lately, apples and grapefruit at the grocery store have been shitty and expensive. If you produce people would focus on the quality of the product and not the packaging, maybe I'd be a happier customer.
HushHushKeeKat 0
Grapefruits are nasty anyways.

If you really want quality fruits and vegetables, you should be buying local. I read a book about a family that decided to start their own farm and their research on Big Agriculture is horrifying. If you became aware of all the disgusting behind-the-scene practices of corporate farms, you will never shop at a grocery store again.

Most of the time, when produce comes in, it looks fantastic. All it take is four or so hours of customers, such as yourself, to bash it around and destroy it. And produce staff who are working for a pittance do not have anything to do with the quality of the product coming in. They don't know till the boxes are open.
kin3463 4
They don't decide how good the produce is that they are getting...they just put it on the shelves.

"Oh god did you see hair on that corn? Talk about luscious!" "I know! And don't even get me started on those soft buns we got earlier. As well as the new peanut butter containers, they're to die for!"
TipOfTheHat 10
How 'bout the load of syrup we got in? Talk about sweet and smooth!
