Today, as I was getting x-rays of my arm, I heard one technician ask another, "Are you sure those are hers?" At 17, I have weaker bones than my grandma. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Twin issues
Today, I got an X-ray and the nurse happened to mention the old break in my leg. Mom always said it was my twin brother who'd broken his leg. Can you see where this is going? I have now confirmed that at some point mom mixed me and my brother up, so we’ve being using each other’s names for 35 years FML
Handle with care
Today, I know my grandma has been getting frail as she rapidly approaches the ripe old age of 80, but I had no idea it was so bad that she could break her arm by sneezing. When I tried to explain this to the ER doctors, they all started snickering. Yeah, I don't believe it either, doc. FML
Today, a nurse berated me for not being able to lift my leg myself so she could put a cast on. My leg is broken in two places. FML
Today, I finally sorted out my health insurance and went to the doctor. After seeing my X-rays and confirming I still had scoliosis, he also confirmed arthritis in both hips, 2 exploded discs and that I have "the back of a 50 year-old." I'm 24. FML
Today, while picking up my 14-year-old sister, a friend of hers asked if I was her mother. I'm only 17. FML
Today, a girl asked me to check out her left breast, which she said she'd found a strange lump on. I'm an orthodontist. FML
Today, based on recent x-rays, I have the right knee of a 60-year-old, the left knee of a 70-year-old, and the right hip joint of a 100-year-old who's been dead for 15 years. I'm only 19 years old and my doctor says I'm gonna need two walking sticks by the time I'm 25. FML
Today, I had to X-ray an 81 year old lady. The clothes she was wearing would show up on the X-ray so I had to make her change into a gown. I found out the hard way that 81 year olds still go commando. FML
Today, I got my wisdom teeth taken out. The two male doctors told me they'd give me anesthesia, but when they did, I could still hear them. I heard them talking about my breasts and how flat they were for a 17 year old. FML
Today, I went to the gym with my grandma. In the span of an hour, she was hit on more than I ever have been in my life. FML

that's not good. try getting more calcium in your diet. milk actually isn't the best source of it, but its still better than nothing. tums might be a good idea. its pure calcium, i think.

it's been proven the milk actually does the opposite for your bones, and can lead to acne, mucus build up, certain cancers etc. op rly doesnt
Mathalamus 25
since when does milk cause cancer?
Melix 31
Everything causes cancer these days. Just let OP have her milk!

It's not so much the milk that can "cause" cancer but more so all the shit they put in the milk.

I've been drinking milk for 15 years now and I feel perfectly fine and I've never broken a bone even tho at some situations I should have. Milk does make your bones stronger

Backing up your statement with anecdotal evidence doesn't make it true.

To be fair, they're arguing against someone that's offered NO evidence. *shrugs*

To be fair, #8 is from California. According to California's surgeon general, EVERYTHING causes cancer.

calcium and vitamin D calcium alone won't help

well, i got no idea what the bones actually need, beyond calcium.

tums are sucrose and calcium carbonate. so they're not just calcium, but you were close. #6 is correct, taking calcium and vitamin D supplements would be the best bet

Exercise is often better for bone density than calcium, lots of walking is a good way to start

Actually, its shown that diets high in calcium (2000mg) have the same hip fracture rates as diets lower in calcium (500mg) the most likely cause of your weak bones are genetics, but almonds are shown to improve bone health so i would suggest adding them to your diet, as well as eating a diet rich in whole unprocessed foods, and low impact sports, such as swimming to keep your bones healthy :)

Also if the doctor suggests you take calcium supplements, they are actually proven not to be very effective (does not improve hip fracture rates) and have some horrid side effects- id suggest the best thing you can do to improve your bone health is doing low impact sports :)

Hopefully the doctor will give you something, that will help with your weak bones.

Get a personal trainer and start weight training. In addition to helping you lose fat, build muscle, boost mood, improve sleep and so much more, weight training also helps improve bone density.

This is true. One of the things I was told while being treated for anorexia was to switch from excessive cardio to an obviously lesser exercise plan, but one that included good weight lifting/strength training.

Eat more greens and beans, make sure you're getting enough magnesium, exercise regularly, don't use any antacids (you need acid to absorb calcium) and stop drinking the tap water

My doctor told me something similar, actually... After years of anorexia and extremely competitive sports for hours daily, I essentially gave myself osteoporosis and a bunch of spinal injuries. (And I was 14.) There's still some time for you to turn it around, though. Good luck.

Definitely try to take care of yourself to avoid any future issues.
