Today, after spending four hours cooking food for a special family dinner, I went to take a shower before they arrived. I came back out less than twenty minutes later to find most of the food gone, and a very guilty-looking puppy. FML

OP here. Wow. Thanks for all the nice words, guys. My "puppy" is a 120lb, 9 month old Great Dane. Her name is Lily, and she is worse than Marmaduke and Marly put together. She is a total troublemaker. I had made zucchini bread, beef stew, a bunch of sides, as well as a cake. All of it was from scratch. I had actually put one of those baby gates across the entry-way to the kitchen, and she ended up knocking it over. Next time, I think she's going in the cage while I take a shower. And btw, I did just order a pizza. Everyone had a good laugh at me. And yes, she's practically impossible to stay mad at.

Probably should have put him in a room somewhere else, or at least put the food up higher. Puppies will eat anything they can get their paws on.

The dog is still a puppy, you can't expect a dog to be fully trained before it's even a year old. If yours were, that's great, but not every dog is the same.

I know it sucks OP, but the dog was only doing things that puppies do.... Next time make sure the food is completely out of range for the dog

I'm curious as to where all the food was kept in order for a puppy to be able to get at it? One things for sure, at least with this fml, it's actually a puppy that will be in the "dog house" for a while rather than a spouse. Sorry OP, hope you can think of something else for dinner.

Did he poop in the refrigerator AND eat the whole wheel of cheese?

He's like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair

It must have been quite a large puppy, but nonetheless it still amazes me how my dogs manage to get at my things, so FYL.

All though that really does suck after slaving over the oven for seemingly endless hours, I really hope your puppy is ok and doesn't have to be rushed into emergency from all of the human food he/she just ate. :(

She's absolutely fine, if tired. She slept all through the afternoon quite contentedly. Thanks for the concern, though. (:

Trying my best not to sound like an ass, but I blame you and not the puppy. The puppy just thought it had a gourmet meal set out all for him. You should've known not to leave it anywhere that your puppy could've gotten to it.
