Today, after several months of eating right, exercising, and weight loss, my mother has yet again arrived at my house, unannounced and with a very sugary cake. She's been doing this most weeks since I lost 50 pounds. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Care and sympathy
Today, after taking vacation time to visit her, my mom told me she was glad I was leaving so she could get back to her diet. I'm prediabetic and have been trying to manage the condition. She ordered dessert at every meal and was the only one in the family who did. FML
Today, I decided to go on a diet to lose some weight before summer. This was followed by the arrival of a giant parcel full of candy from my mother. FML
Classic Mom moment
Today, I went to my parents' house. I recently lost about 30 lbs. My mom hugged me and said, "Aww, you're not my chubby baby girl anymore." She then said she wished I were still fat because she missed it. She's the reason I lost the weight; she used to tease and taunt me. Thanks Mom. FML
Today, I told my mom I was finally going on a diet. She let me know how proud she is of me fighting temptation, by making my favorite cookies and dinner. FML
As a treat
Today, I bought myself a Crumbl cookie as a treat for losing 20lbs. Upon seeing it, my mom screamed at me for cheating on my diet and how I was going to "gain all the weight back" and insisted she eat some of it to "help me out." She left behind a tiny morsel of the cookie with a chocolate chip chunk. FML
Today, I received a box in the mail from my mom which I assumed was a care package. It was a scale to encourage me to lose weight. FML
Today, I woke up early and spent hours baking and icing a three-tier cake for my friend's eighteenth birthday, which is this evening. I just found out my mother threw it in the compost bin because she's on a diet and it was "tempting" her. FML
Today, my co-worker offered me sweets, then chocolate and then biscuits. Repeatedly. She knows I'm trying to diet for my wedding. She does this every day. FML
Today, I walked downstairs in a new outfit, after dieting for 3 months, and losing just over 20 pounds. My mom took one look at me and said "You'd better keep going." FML
Today, for Mother's Day, I surprised my Mother with the news I that I'll be visiting in June. The last time we got to visit was 4 years ago, we live 4000 miles apart and it's a very expensive trip. She said, "No, come next June, I want to lose some more weight before seeing you." FML

Doesn't sound like your mom's being very sweet

Maybe she's saying that you need to sweeten up? Don't give her such a frosted response- appreciate her kindness, even if it's Devil's Food!

50 pounds is amazing, congrats! I have found that lots of people tend to make comments that they think are supportive, but that chips away at your resolve. Comments like "are to going to stop losing weight anytime soon" or "you are looking healthy, don't lose anymore weight" does just as much damage as tempting one with a whole cake. Good luck!

It might be time to set up some firmer boundaries with your mother. As a recovering binge eater/emotional eater, I would be devastated by that insensitivity. Congratulations on your weight loss. Don't give up!

Politely but firmly explain that the next time she shows up with cake, you won't be letting her in.

Just say you dont eat cake because you need to keep your figure. That should work if she isn't a complete bitch.

Sounds like sabotage... Perhaps it's time to sit down with your Mom and have a heart to heart? Maybe she's jealous or scared. Is she someone who expresses her affection for others via cooking? That's my mom's thing. She isnt very good at expressing her feelings, so she bakes cookies and cakes and muffins. Which are all yummy, but not helpful to the waistline. My mom backed off on the baked goods after i assured her i still loved and needed her in my life, and we found more constructive things to do together, like taking park walks or going shopping... non-food oriented activities. But hey, that's just what worked for me.

Don't open the door & tell her she can come back once she has ditched the cake. Sounds like she has control issues too. Hope you haven't been eating the junk she brings you, keep up the good work on your weight loss....it's a long hard journey, but well worth the health benefits & extra years of life you'll gain.

Maybe she's just worried you're losing the weight using unhealthy methods. Maybe she's not you're eating at all and doesn't want to see go down the path of eating disorders

Congrats on the 50 pounds! I know exactly how difficult it is & how hard you worked to lose them. My mother did the exact same thing. You're not alone. Talk to your dad & tell him that kind of behavior is unacceptable. If he takes your side you can have a conversation with your mom. Keep strong nonetheless!
