Today, after not hanging out with anyone the whole year, a guy finally asked me to go the movies with him. When I asked what time, he said, "Never mind, I found another girl." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I finally got the courage to make a move on the guy I've been crushing on. I asked him if he would like to go see a movie with me. He answered, "Sorry, I've already seen it." I didn't even mention any particular movie. FML
Today, I was watching a movie alone, after receiving a text from my boyfriend saying that his grandma was at the hospital, so he couldn't go with me. I caught him on a date with another girl, at the same movie screening that I went to. FML
Romantic choice of movie
Today, the guy I’ve had a crush on for ever declined a date with me to see the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie because he isn’t interested in dating. I decided to go to see the movie on my own. I ran into him at the same screening I went to, all cozied up with another girl. What the hell does she have that I don’t? FML
Today, I went to the movies alone after the boy I was seeing told me he was busy studying for exams. I found him making out with another girl whilst in the queue. When I confronted him by text, he denied that it was him. I saw him check the text and reply. FML
Today, the guy I've been seeing for a year and a half ended it. Why? He found another girl. "She's just like you." FML
Date night
Today, I finally mustered up the guts to ask this girl I like to dinner and a movie. She agreed on the terms that she could bring someone, and I'd said it wouldn't be a problem. When I met up with her a few hours later, I found out she'd brought her boyfriend. FML
Last dates
Today, a guy I've been dating for a year asked me to meet him for dinner and a couple of drinks. After dinner, he confessed that he's been seeing another woman and has decided he wants to seek a relationship with her. He then told me how sex with me is great, but he didn't want me to continue being "the other woman." FML
Today, after weeks of being hounded to go out on a date with this guy, I finally found the time and invited him over, fully intending to hook up. He stood me up. FML
Today, an old friend of mine refused to go to a movie with me. Turns out he was sitting in front of me with my girlfriend. FML
I'm not the main character in this scene
Today, I went to the movies with a girl I like, then we went to grab a bite afterwards. She spent most of the time telling me how much she dislikes my best friend because he hooked up with a new girl. I then found out the two had been "talking" for a while. FML

You haven't hung out with ANYONE for a whole year??? Either you live alone on a desert island or I'm sorry, because that's just terrible. Don't rely on guys for entertainment, get your own social life going, you'll be happier for it. Best of luck.

I think after being told "nevermind, I found another girl" is enough for almost anybody to not want to tag along. I do agree with your suggestion about joining a Facebook group though! Best of luck to OP!

Go out and explore don't let one bad thing get you down, you never know you might make some new friends.

Ask him if you can still tag along. Also a good idea is to find a Facebook your interested in and see if you can attend a meetup they have. Just be safe.

He probably thinks "suicide squad" was a really good movie with a fully developed plot. You dodged a bullet there OP

And what does Suicide Squad have to do with any of this?

Try having a guy tell you he loves you after seeing him for a few months and then a few days later he tells you he likes another woman.

Now if only there was some website where we could submit our bad stories instead of just trying to one-up existing ones...
Catdragon 40
I did submit it, it just didn't get enough votes.

also I was not trying to one up, I was trying to say that I relate to this fml.

You have heard of social anxiety, yes? While I agree with you that OP shouldn't rely on someone else to make plans with her, it's not always as easy as "just go out and talk to someone."

It doesn't even have to be about social anxiety or mental illness which, sadly, is the first conclusion people jump to and is a small fraction of the cases. I'm very extroverted but I struggle to find groups of friends with similar interests as mine in the area that I live in, and a large variety of life changes can upend your world and make the process of finding a new social circle quite a long one, including but not limited to: Leaving for college, graduation, marriage, divorce, relocating, changing jobs, death or illness in the family, military deployment, and the list goes on and on. Social lives after school years take a lot more work, and the older you get, the harder they are to restart if a life event has upended what you once had. A year passes by in the blink of an eye, so don't judge.

This type of story appears on FML way too often. Why is everyone waiting and relying on someone else to invite them to go out and be social? Take charge! Talk to people you work or go to school with. You WILL find someone with common interests, and if you have a suggestion ready to go, 9/10 times people will follow and you'll end up having a great, self-created social life.
TaoShaman 24
That's not true at all. 9/10 when I've asked people to do things they say yes and then never show up. If your interests are not common, you won't find people with common interests very often. Unless you're saying to walk up to every single person and just start talking to them like a creep, it's very hit and miss as to whether or not you'll find people with common interests. People tend to hang out in groups and usually have ZERO interest in adding any more.

It's not that easy for some people not everything is crystal clear

Thing called social anxiety. Really really sucks to have it and makes talking to people about 2000 times harder.

Although is not the best place to make friends, perhaps you should go to a bar in your area and start talking to a few people. Keep in mind that you should be rather careful, but just try to go to social events. You are sure to make friends there. You could also try to make friends online, but once again, you should be super careful about who you meet. Not exactly sure what you've been up to the past year, but you should definitely start socialising A tad more

Oh op... Join some clubs, be a little more social and get some friends. Smile and say hi to people. Don't even think about guys until you've got some people to have your back.

You probably ought to follow them to the movies, stand up in front of them, lift your shirt and sing "My milkshake is better than yours..." while not breaking eye contact with the other girl. This works every time!

I'll hang out with you :'-)
