Today, after months of putting up with it, I finally asked my manager not to put me on shifts with this old guy who is racist, sexist and lazy. This was how I found out that he died over the weekend. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, the manager that hired me and worked for years to inspire and connect her staff was laid to rest. Hours before the funeral, her replacement told me he wanted my two weeks notice on his desk tonight. I've been a model employee, he just doesn't like me. FML
Today, I was working when I delivered the standard "Hello, how are you?" to a customer. He took the opportunity to tell me about his deceased wife, his estranged children, and his anal tearing. After a while, I tried to help someone else, and he complained to my manager. I was written up. FML
Today, after three weeks of my boss telling me how much he appreciates my hard work and has submitted my name up for a promotion, he called me into his office to announce I'm being laid off. FML
Today, a man I once worked with passed away. He was a lovely, caring, and inspirational person whom I looked up to. My husband's form of consolation? "Old people die. Get over it." FML
Today, my boss asked that I add the work of our third coworker's position to my shift because he's never finished his duties. She gave us a 50 cent raise to "babysit" a 60-ish year-old man. I responded to respectfully fire him or pay me 20/hr. His last day is Friday and he doesn't even know yet. FML
Today, I got a heads-up that my boss suffered a death in the family, but was coming into work anyway. I thought he'd be depressed, but it seems he deals with grief with anger instead. I found that out when he yelled at me, threatening to rip my spine out my ass over a typo I made in a report. FML
Today, it was my first day at my new job at a nursing home. Not only were we short staffed, two residents passed away, and I got beaten up by an old man. FML
Today, I asked my boss for a few days off next week, because my grandmother passed away yesterday and I'll need to travel to attend the funeral. His response: "She's dead, you're not. You want time off, then quit." FML
Today, I found out that the mysterious and creepy weirdo guy that continuously sends me messages on Facebook is my manager at my new job. FML
Today, I found out my boss wrote me up because he heard me crying on the phone, and that it was unprofessional. I was talking to my sister, who was telling that me my father had died. Three weeks ago, he was crying about his dog breaking his leg. FML

My younger sibling's girlfriend (18 years old) is extremely anti-gay, even though no one in her family has any strong opinions on it. I was shocked when I found out; I thought they were all old people, too. But older people are the majority.

Sometimes you'll find that the people who are the most anti-gay turn out to be that way because they themselves are gay. It's a coping mechanism. They figure it'll either hide their gayness, or that they can't be gay if they hate gay people. I'm NOT SAYING that ALL anti-gay people are gay themselves, nor am I SAYING that most are, just SOMETIMES that's what happens. It may not even be the case now, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in. :)

@18 Or, instead of waiting on death to take them, try teaching and showing them that those hurtful things aren't always true. That, and there's always gonna be people that think like that. They are never going to be fully gone, that's just life.

I want to know how a racist, sexist, and lazy person manage to hold down a job. Still though, this isn't your fault, your request was reasonable, and you didn't know that he died. You were just working with the information you had, it's not like you were purposefully trying to be insensitive.
