Today, after months of exercise and diets and finally reaching my ideal weight, I told my morbidly obese cousin about my success, hoping to motivate him to do the same. He replied, "Why would it matter, you're still ugly." FML

He's just jealous because you achieved your goal...

I think that's really well said. OP probably had the best of intentions but came off a little irritating. The cousin probably shouldn't have reacted that way, but he's probably heard this a lot. I'd probably save the motivation for people who remark on your weight loss and ask how you did it.

He's obviously jealous. Good job!!

Haters gonna hate.

Well nice supportive cousin there! Only jealous as they are both fat & ugly!

At least you can lose weight

Don't worry about it. Thin people don't need to be good-looking.

Well, tell him "At least I am only ugly, you are still fat AND ugly"...

Misery loves company. He's afraid that people will be on his case about losing weight using you as an example. If you feel bad about yourself you'll give up and put the weight back on.
