Today, after having set up a date with a wonderful guy who seems to really like me, I caught a cold. I have also lost most of my voice because of it, so I now sound like an angry, deranged goose when I talk. This will be the first time he meets me in person. So much for a good first impression. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, it's my first day at my new job. Unfortunately, I have a very bad cold. When my boss leaned in to show me something on the computer, I sneezed all over him. A hell of a first impression. FML
Nice guy
Today, my friend fixed me up with a guy from her workplace. I'm painfully shy, so I really appreciated it and was looking forward to meeting him, since she described him as very sweet. Once the date got started, he continuously made fun of my speech impediment, until I finally left in tears. FML
Today, after weeks of flirting with the hot guy at the gym, he finally asked me to meet up with him outside. I was diagnosed with strep throat just hours before our date. FML
Impressive
Today, I met my boyfriend's mother for the first time and hoped to make a good first impression. When I tried to say 'Hello', a loud rippling burp came up from my throat, and not only that. A small chunk of mucus flew out and landed on the floor between us. So much for a good first impression. FML
Today, my friend set me up with a cute guy who is very germaphobic. So, I spent four hours cleaning my apartment. Two minutes into the date, I sneezed. He politely told me he wasn't feeling well and left. FML
Today, after a great first date, he leaned in to kiss me. I held my breath slightly. This resulted in me breathing out through my nose, blowing a huge snot bubble, which then burst on his face. He looked at me in horror and walked away. FML
Today, a guy I like tried to talk to me. I got so nervous that I had a panic attack and puked in front of him. FML
Today, just before a job interview, I coughed so violently that I lost my voice. FML
Flirtatious bubble
Today, at work, I was standing at the till helping an attractive man. I have a cold and could feel the snot bubbling up. He orders and we flirt for a bit. Just as I'm about to hand him his product, I sneeze quite loudly and forcefully all over his face. Guess I won't be getting that number. FML
Confuddled
Today, I met my boyfriend’s parents for the first time. I got nervous and tried to say, "Nice to meet you, I’ve heard a lot about you!" when I should’ve just said, "It’s nice to meet you." To make things worse, it came out as, "Nice to hear you, I’ve met a lot about you." FML

No stress. I met my husband at a bar when I had a sore throats and sounded like an 80 year old male smoker. And things ended up great for us!!

So? Just text him and explain you have a bad cold. It sucks, but it happens and dates are postponed all the time.

If he likes you even when you sound like an angry deranged goose, then he's surely a keeper. This is the best test to see if he truly is wonderful.

I don't know, if you ask me, it was a very good first impression of an angry deranged goose.

It sounds like you should rest your voice anyway. Either reschedule or just don't talk when you meet. You can do that whole writing a note to talk thing, I'm sure that will be better for the meeting and for your voice.

Two options: (1) explain the situation and ask to postpone the date; (2) explain the situation and go on the date anyway. In the latter, you can either speak or be all cutesy with a whiteboard.

If he's a good guy, he'll understand.

eww, why would you want to give a potential boyfriend your cold anyway? if it was me i would have to rearrange! ?

Make sure you sit right next to him and whisper. It'll be very sexy.

I had lost my voice when I went on a first date. We have been married for 8 and 1/2 years and been together 9 1/2 years.
