Today, after 4 years of college to get a BA in Marketing and 2 years to get an MBA, I landed a great job as a receptionist. My boss likes to fist bump when I buzz him through the security door correctly. FML

Today, I found out that the new receptionist earns more than I do. I'm an undergraduate accountant and I've been working there for 2 years. Oh and I started out as the receptionist before I got a "promotion". FML
Today, I was talking to my boss and he said I was awesome. He went to fist bump me and I missed. FML
Today, I became the senior receptionist at my job, which is supposed to have three receptionists. The others all had life changes, so they're moving on, which is fair, but now I have to train new people. I've been here three weeks. FML
Today, I fistbumped a cashier as they tried to hand me my change. FML
Today, I was so bored at my job as a receptionist that I actually got excited when the phone rang. FML
Today, I found out that a co-worker of mine that I had originally hired, trained, and mentored to work in my department for the past 4 years had just got the promotion that I had applied for. He is now my boss. FML
Today, I went to hand in a resume. The secretary happened to be a girl I liked in high school. When leaving, I shook hands with the employer, waved goodbye to the girl, turned around and walked straight into a glass wall. FML
Today, I got my first job after having spent months looking, and graduating college in the meantime. I got it based on my pre-college qualifications. FML
Today, I went to go give my boss a high five for a job well done. I missed his hand and accidentally slapped his ass on the way down. FML
Today, during work hours, I took time off and discreetly went for an interview for a prospective job at our rival company. As soon as I reached the place, I bumped into my current boss. FML

Today, I started a new job with an established company, and even though I have two different pieces of paper from two different colleges, I still had to start in a beginner's position like almost everyone else. And, now my boss wants to connect with me to have some type of rapport, which surely wouldn't be forgotten when it comes time for a possible promotion, and his way of doing this is by fist bumping when I successfully complete a task. I'm just so above all of this though because I went to college. FML. That's you, that's what you sound like.

Really lost on this one. This doesn’t sound bad. Is it because you’re in a security position when you wanted to be in a marketing one? Because you could potentially move up from here, keep your hopes up OP and enjoy the chill boss.

People need to be humble. Just because you have two degrees does not mean you get to go to the top position. You start at the bottom like everyone else. As long as you are working towards your ultimate goals. Think of it as experience that will serves you in the long run. I have a masters degree in social work, when I first finished college I got a job working as a 911 call taker. I did not think that was beneath me, I saw it as an opportunity to help people which is what my degree is all about.
