Today, a coworker asked me why this week's report was not uploaded to the server. I've been writing these reports once a week for a year and they take a whole day to write. Upload them to what server? FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Unprofessional
Today, a coworker sent a last-minute request for a highly complex custom report based on a spreadsheet. It took most of the weekend and Monday to get right because he'd screwed up most of the calculations. The client was pissed; they'd wanted it done by 5PM GMT that Friday. He'd sat on the request until 5 EST Friday. FML
Deadlines whoosh by
Today, I have to show my boss daily reports on my work over the last three months. She told me this yesterday. They're mandatory, but nobody has ever wanted to see them in the three years I've been working here, so I have long since stopped doing them. It's now 3 am, I start work at 7.30, and I'm not even close to done. FML
Obsession
Today, it's been a week since I was supposed to be moved. I've had to work over because of network, data issues, and now a computation that's slightly off. The computation is optional, and there's no one at the federal office to even accept the report, but my stupid brain won't let me stop until it's fixed. FML
Dogshit code
Today, one of my colleagues was asked to rewrite an entire project, which I wrote last week. I'd spent more than 4 days writing it. FML
Today, my boss is writing me up for not signing a report before I left work. He refused to print the report that day, and I don't have access to the printers. FML
Today, my research partner emails me 2 hours before our deadline saying that she can't complete her half of our 20 page report because when she woke up this morning she couldn't see. How did she write the email? FML
Today, at the office, my most annoying client asked me to send her a document. I have now sent it to her over 5 times, in a different format each time, and every single time she replies with, "Not in the requested format". She won't tell me what the requested format is. FML
Today, after retyping a 22-page report for work because the orginal had gone missing, i realized I had used a different laptop the first time. I now have 2 copies of the same report, both of which are late. FML
Today, thinking we'd still be able to finish our project in time for tomorrow's deadline, my work group put off doing any work until today. When we logged into the website we have to use, we found it was down for maintenance all day. FML
Self report
Today, at work, I had to analyze timecards data and generate a report on the least billed / occupied people at work. I found myself at the bottom. I sent it to my boss too. FML

Why would you think the coworker did something stupid?

I can't really tell what the fml here is, someone help

Dont dog on someone with an MBA, it takes hard work and dedication. Have you ever taken the Graduate Management Exam? Open up a book and dont stereotype

If it takes you a whole day to write a weekly report, you're either procrastinating on the report or your coworker is extremely impatient. I'm going with the latter...

Your coworker doesn't have a clue does he?
clrichmond2009 24
I don't think it's the coworker that has no clue.

Dude its your own fault. You need to check up with these things and clarify your job with your boss if you are unsure how to do it properly.

He's been doing it for a year now. Pretty sure he has some clue of what he's doing.

You are literally too stupid to insult.
nlm92 15
Yeah if it's been going on for a year without question or concern it's natural to assume you've got things down.

Thank you, 31.

#4 is right. This guy went through all that time to write reports once a week for a year, but was too ignorant to find out what to properly do with it after he was finished. YDI for sure

No one is perfect. And this may come as a surprise to you but that includes you.

Rather than asking FML, OP. Did you ask your coworker?
thomcmoore 23
You understand what a rhetorical question is, right?
Pstraka6 20
Mistakes happen and clearly its not an important one if its been going on for a year. just ask how to and maybe speak with thr supervisor!
Headcrab 29
not important? The question implies that nobody ever even bothered looking at these reports, which means OP has been writing 50+ (over a year, weekly) reports for Jack sh*t. That's 2 months of writing. For nothing.
Pstraka6 20
Very true, it probably does carry a great deal of importance; however, someone failed to check this and inform them. Sounds like a lack of responsibility, not on OP's end
RedPillSucks 33
My guess is that they were probably printed and presented in some meeting, but the coworker may have wanted to check reports from a few weeks back. I know in my job whenever reports are presented the presenter also stores them in something like sharepoint so people can look back on them later.
hellnosucka 27
and that's when you correct him and say "no dear, this year's report was not uploaded to the server"

I hate it when people make condescending comments.

Hmmmmm....a file cabinet can almost be a "server" for writings.
CurlyQute 17
Uhh that's not good
iSativa 24
There is no server. You're doing it right. Point your co-worker to the filing cabinet where your reports are stored.
nlm92 15
What is this ancient device you call a filing cabinet?
