Today, a child was choking in the store I work at. He was alone in the aisle, so I started the Heimlich without his parents' permission. After dislodging what was caught, his mother turned the corner and went screaming to my manager for touching her kid. I got a write up. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was working the register at a local grocery store. A kid about 5 years old was having trouble zipping his jacket. I reached out to help him and he started screaming "No bad touch bad touch!" and kicked me in the knee. Everyone looked. FML
Thanks…
Today, I had a violent coughing fit while at the store, which caused a lady to think I was choking, grab me from behind and start doing the Heimlich maneuver incorrectly. She broke two of my ribs. FML
Today, at my job working retail, I had just finished cleaning and straightening a whole aisle. This kid watched me do the whole thing. When I was done, he stuck his arm out, and ran it down the whole shelf, knocking everything off it. His mother just grabbed his hand and walked away. FML
Today, while working at my local supermarket, I found a boy lost and wandering about, so I took him to the front desk. My reward from his mother was a slap around the face and harsh words for supposedly having kidnapped him. FML
Today, while I was working at a supermarket, a kid started to cry in line because he couldn't get candy. Since we have free lollipops behind the desk, I gave him one. His mom complained to my manager and said I was grooming her child. FML
Today, I stopped two little boys from spitting over a railing at the piano player two floors below in the department store I work at. Their mom complained to my boss about me. FML
Today, I was in a shopping centre when a little girl was running up and down the aisles. She started to fall over so I put my hand out to catch her. Her mother then ran up to me and screamed about me 'touching her child' so loud that everyone could hear. FML
Today, at work, we had an extremely rude customer who started cussing at us, and my coworker started cussing back. I jumped on the register to quickly bring down the line, and apologized to everyone for the scene. A secret shopper was in the line and claimed that I was rude. I got written up. FML
Today, I tripped over a kid at work. She was sitting on the floor with her legs sticking out into the walkway. Her mom caused a scene, accusing me of doing it on purpose. FML
Stranger danger
Today, I helped a 6 year-old boy who was left alone at a store to get back home. The kid's parents were grateful, but my mother cussed me out and called me stupid for helping the kid. No good dead goes unpunished. FML

Some parents are assholes and you can't even negotiate with them
lonewolf621 17
Why dont people sit down and negotiate anymore? Save the kid, get screwed. Dont save the kid... your still screwed (mentally).

If the kid was old enough to be left alone in the aisle, the kid was old enough to be asked what happened. This is exactly why people don't help each other in emergencies. I guarantee that this woman would whine like a banshee if you didn't help.

It's America these people will take any chance they get to sue somebody even if that person saved a life. Welcome to modern society...

I remember a story where a woman was pulled out of a burning vehicle and later sues the guy that saved her because she injured her arm in the process.
acs123acs 22
@72 doesn't that sound like in the movie "The Incredibles" how the one saves a guys life breaking his back in the process. However the guy was committing suicide and sued the hero for ruining his life when he tried to save it?

A local firefighter where I live saved a girl from drowning and was then fired because that was not part of his job. Needless to say, people were not to happy with the fire department and we eventually got the fireman his job back. But still, he got fired for helping someone which makes absolutely no sense.

Dumb people don't deserve to graduate. I just hope the kids in school today are actually learning. Btw, most of them have an iphone(maybe android) and/or ipad. Why would a parent give a 12 or 13 year old kid an iphone? What do they need one for? Anyway, if they are listening to 1D(mainly girls as 13 year old boys play cod and spam comments on YT videos) then they clearly are not as smart as they think they are. I guess it just means that they have horrible taste in music and nothing to do with being smart. Then again, I read a comment once of a girl who stated that she was a 1Der and then said she agreed that their songs sucked. How does that even work? Back on topic...Teachers need to be unfraid of failing students. When I was in high-school this one kid never did his homework and managed to pass. That is some bs. One more thing. I notice a lot of underage kids on Minecraft servers which bothers me so much as they do not know how to type and they ask such common sense questions where the answer is clearly typed on a sign at spawn or the first thing showing in the chat box that you normally see as soon as you get on the server(ex is a website). How did they manage to pay for an account? Idk.

72- most states have "good Samaritan" laws that prevent the rescuer from being sued. She can try but she would've lost
nurchok 15
And if she was in Canada, she would have to pay for OP's lawyer as well...
nurchok 15
******* retards I'd only be grateful to someone who saved my kid's life...
Axipiter 24
Exactly 98. Thankfully my province has the "good Samaritan" law in place. If a victim is unresponsive, even as a bystander, you have the right to essentially save their life. I don't understand how anything else makes sense...

What does any of this have to do with the FML post?
j_729 18
90- What the hell does that have to do with this comment or this fml?

'Merica, land of lost common sense and decency. Sad seeing all these stories of people helping others and it biting them in the ass. Be proud that you saved that kid OP!!! and hope that mother doesn't breed anymore, or your employer for that matter

Society today. Help a child=branded as a pedophile. She should've been grateful you saved her child's life. But, good on you for helping.
xxsakuraxx 29
Can you please change your picture? It grosses me out and I keep seeing it in a bunch of other fml posts. Im sure I'm not the only one.
Ctrl_H 18
Yeah, then people wonder how somebody could walk past a person who needs help. I bet at least 4 people walked past op and the kid while he was choking.
jarrettd 27
What were you thinking op. helping people in need is a serious crime!
obnum 19
Show them the security tapes and prove that you did the right thing! You're no pedophile!

Hey OP. At least you saved a life. Many people would have just walked by
LeafsGuy92 10
A write up that was well worth it I'd say!
s13495 19
At least the kid didn't die! Main thing is you saved a childs life.
xxsakuraxx 29
Thats not right. You just saved the kids life dude. You couldn't just sit back and watch him choke to death!
mybarra6 17
Apparently, being written up is the price you'll have to pay for being a good samaritan…at least you did the right thing :) FYL
Jennipher Stillwell 11
I bet if he hadn't, she'd still would have bitched that no one did anything cause she left her ******* kid alone.
DrownedMyFish 18
Can't they just check the cameras and see that you actually saved his life?
corocoro 30
Or ask the kid what happened.
Scorpio1691 29
I was having the same thought. The camera will show the parent that it was needed. If you did nothing the police would be involved for not doing anything to same the child's life. No good deed goes unpunished
Crofty92 17
I ******* hate people
eriksen 16
There will always be one person that comment something like this, won't it?
frip_fml 9
won't there.
Micayla 12
At least you did something about it! A lot of people would have just walked by.
kwyk 23
I'm sure this is subconscious but your comment is almost exactly the same as #3.
Neptuneflyer 4
11- They probably posted around the same time
kwyk 23
I was just observing, not complaining. But just to be pedantic it was a few minutes after haha
Bevspeaks 11
People can be so unthankful, and what if her kid had choked to death? She would have yelled at you then too for not doing anything. Just be glad you saved a life OP
