Today, my boyfriend compared me to an unattractive actress. When I said it was sort of messed up to say that to me since she's not pretty, he said, "She's not as bad as you." FML

Today, my boyfriend told me he didn't feel attractive. I tried to cheer him up by telling him that I find him very attractive, and so do my friends. He said that didn't matter, because my friends and I aren't attractive either. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I were out shopping. As he was trying on shirts, I told him that the particular shirt he was wearing looked ugly. He turned around, sighed, and said "You think? Well, your face is ugly, but you don't see me complaining about it." He was serious. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I were at a restaurant with a few other couples, and my boyfriend started to rant on how "all the hot chicks are dumb." Apparently, I'm either ugly or stupid. FML
Today, the guy I was dating told me he thought I was a good person. His reasoning? I'm not ugly enough to be a bad person, but I'm not pretty enough, either. FML
Today, my boyfriend said, "You know who you remind me of? Sarah Palin." And then for the next 15 minutes continued to discuss how ugly she is. FML
Today, I was talking to my boyfriend, feeling pretty low. I said something along the lines of, "You like me even when I look like shit." He replied, "Ah, that's just how you naturally look." FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend what celebrity I look like. He thought long and hard, then said "Sarah Jessica Parker." I gasped and told him that I find her extremely hideous. He replied "So do I." FML
Today, after dating for almost five years, my boyfriend stated that I have a "perfect and amazing personality" but that my looks are not what he "envisioned himself spending the rest of his life with." In other words, I'm ugly. FML
Today, my boyfriend, who is a great cook, decided to try his hand at baking. The cookies he made looked weird but tasted good. I jokingly said, "They taste great, but they look awful!" He responded by saying, "I could say the same thing about you." FML
Today, I asked my husband if he thought I was pretty. He replied "compared to what?" He was serious. FML

not everyone is attractive. if someone can acknowledge your unattractiveness, but stay with you (seemingly happily)... take the ******' win.

Who says he agrees with her? I've been attracted to people I thought were hot only for other people to think the same person was ugly. He could have been thinking "you look like this famous person I think is hot" while she hears "you're comparing me to someone I think is ugly"

Because the Filter some women apply would apply no matter what we said. There are women I think are hot that others think are ugly not everyone's attracted to the same features. The guy might be thinking "I like this actress' looks so I'm going to favorably compare her to you" suddenly his girlfriend is pissed at what he meant as a compliment but instead of trying to clarify she immediately assumes he was intentionally insulting her based on her perception of the woman's looks. Now the guy's feeling miffed because he's getting chewed out.

but he said, " she's not that(as*) bad as you." Clarifying that the actress is prettier than his girlfriend, which is probably true, but shouldn't be stated out of respect and empathy for his girlfriend...

anyone who is Hollywood standard of attractive won't be for long...we all get old. However, one should be beautiful to their partner, even if they're riddled with scoliosis and shingles, that is love. Remind him that he's no Brad Pitt and what he said may have been truth but hurtful and extremely disrespectful to your feelings and you. A relationship without trust and respect is no relationship at all.

OK, yes, it is possible that he found the actress attractive, but then why say "She's not as bad as you". Clearly he is either mean or just really insensitive, and/or he is trying to break down OP's self-esteem. Honey, don't stay with a guy who does not make you feel beautiful. Eventually you will feel so ugly that you will think you can do no better than him and then he will have you right where he wants you: Emotionally dependant on him.

break up with someone who'd say something like that to you. it's not about them being honest or "taking one for the team" it's about how fine he is with demeaning & disrespecting you like that. everyone deserves someone who finds them attractive.
