Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my dad once again had to help me with my technological issues. Isn’t it usually the other way around? FML
Today, my aged mother continued to complain about her computer issues to me. A relative, who is good at tech support, won't bother servicing her computer because whatever she does ends up bogging it down the next day, so I have to hear about it on the phone. FML
Today, I realized the only reason my phone ever rings is because someone needs help with their computer. FML
Today, our work computers are down so I've been trying to fix it via my home computer for 3 days. My 12-year-old son took one look at the screen, changed 2 settings on a drop down menu, and the problem was fixed. My 12-year-old is better at my job than I am. FML
Today, my dad came up into my room and told me that as a consequence of breaking my MacBook in anger, he’s punishing me by helping him with yardwork every single hour of the day. FML
Today, my dad was sat on my laptop in the living room trying to learn how to do some rewiring around the house when he, and I quote, ”clicked on the thing.” My laptop is now riddled with so many viruses it’s basically a house brick. FML
Today, my dad asked me to help him buy a laptop by searching online. He explicitly said, "When you have time." I decided to shower as I had just woken up. While showering, I was startled by loud banging and my dad angrily asking why I wasn't looking for his laptop. FML
Today, I was trying to turn on my computer and couldn't. I spent twenty minutes trying to figure out what was wrong when I finally called my husband for help and made him leave work. He came in, looked at the wall, and plugged it back in. The look on his face said it all. FML
Today, after my dad got frustrated at me last month for not having a job and completely taking over my job searching, claiming it’s not that hard and he’d show me how it’s done. Since then, not one company has called or emailed him back and he doesn’t know why. Welcome to job searching in 2024, Dad. FML
Today, I got a computer. When I opened it, I found out that my dad had made himself the administrator. He made it so everything shut off after 11 o'clock, and made it so I couldn't download anything without his password. FML

Screw you, you ageist! I'm better with computers than many youngsters. Lots of them are dependent on apps and don't know lots of the basics.

Yes! I’m relatively good at them but only cause I’ve used them for a long time. My dad, though, is a computer GEEK. He’s the one who always helps my family when we get new laptops or phones or whatever.

My dads a computer scientist so I always go to him for any technology issues. That being said alotta older people don’t get technology and some younger we just grew up more around it . As long as you don’t have to have him help set up your social media or show you how to accept a friend request not really an fml at least you have someone to help you .

Did you know Fanuc robot programming language is almost identical to the programs you can write on your Ti-83 calculator used in algebra class? Quit twitting and learn to do something useful with the technology at your fingertips.

Just because someone’s older than you doesn’t mean they’re technologically challenged. Its a stereotype yeah but its not always the case. No need to feel embarrassed.

No? Who cares if he knows more about computers than you do? If he’s helpful, then you’re set

Um... no? My dad has worked on computers for his career most of his life and he helps me all the time. He's 63 and I'm 32 and he still knows more about them than I do. If I can't figure something out, I ask him and not my husband. So age is just a number in this situation.
