Today, my mom and siblings got into a fight. Being generally quiet and non-confrontational, I stayed out of it. Shortly thereafter, I was yelled at by my mother for being "ungrateful" and "disrespectful." I still don't know what I did wrong. FML

Today, my mom and dad got into a fight, during which my dad said to my mom that her health conditions were of her own doing. Because of that, I got pissed and had a fight with my dad, taking my mom's side. Turns out, my mom took his side and ratted me out. FML

Today, my mother went on another long rant, detailing 20 years of bad things that we all already knew about a relative. The slightest recollection in a conversation never fails to turn into unending monologues. I can't change the past, nor the subject of conversation apparently. FML

Today, my dad and I got into an argument, and he ended up calling me a son of a bitch. My mom heard and started arguing with him over him calling her a bitch. Three hours later, I'm now staying at my gran's house with my mom and hoping her threats of a divorce weren't for real. FML

It’s easy to get into a fight with someone who agrees with you if they have a stupid reason to get there.

My mom and I used to have fights when we’d literally be saying the same thing but phrased differently...

I've had those fights. All the more infuriating when you realise that you're both saying the same thing, try to bring that to their attention & defuse the situation, and they refuse to accept that. Because you don't want to keep fighting but you also don't want to stop fighting because that would leave them feeling like they "won" the fight and that you're "wrong". In my experience, it happens mostly with people who have a compulsive need to always be right...
