Today, my boyfriend and I were out shopping. As he was trying on shirts, I told him that the particular shirt he was wearing looked ugly. He turned around, sighed, and said "You think? Well, your face is ugly, but you don't see me complaining about it." He was serious. FML
Today, I was having a romantic conversation with my boyfriend under the stars. He said, "You know how there are people who are beautiful on the inside and people who are beautiful on the outside? Yeah, well you're one of those 'inside' people." FML
Today, my boyfriend compared me to an unattractive actress. When I said it was sort of messed up to say that to me since she's not pretty, he said, "She's not as bad as you." FML
Today, I was hanging out with my boyfriend. Everything seemed to be going well, when all of a sudden he turned to look at me with a pensive and thoughtful expression. I expected him to say something important, but instead he just said, "I was wondering, how does it feel to be fat?" FML
Today, my boyfriend told me I looked nice in my profile picture. I began to reply, "Aww, thank you!" until he sent another message saying, "Mostly because your face isn't in it." FML

I don't see the problem here. He admitted that he likes you all the time, even at your lowest. Even though you think you look bad, either he doesn't or it doesn't matter to him. Either way, you win.

She wasn't necessarily fishing for compliments. Sometimes girls genuinely do feel really bad about their appearance and I think it's unfair that they often can't confide in people about it because they immediately get accused of "fishing for compliments".

57- The way OP worded it made it sound like she was fishing for complements. If she had said "I don't feel pretty right now" maybe he would have assured her that she was pretty, but OP's boyfriend might have thought that she was, in fact, fishing for complements and gave her a smart answer.

I would be interested hearing the boyfriend's explanation for his comment. Perhaps this is off base, but one interpretation of this situation is that the boyfriend's intent with that comment was not to agree that she looked "like shit", but rather, to dispute it and imply that the look she considered to be "like shit" was simply what he considered to be a more natural look. If this is the case, then yes, he worded it clumsily, but that doesn't mean he's a horrible boyfriend worthy of the condemnation in some of these comments.
