Thanks, great feedback everyone!
Today, after years of not meeting my partner's family, along with the new arrival of our daughter, we decided to travel to meet them all and introduce our bundle of joy. Instead of the usual welcoming committee, all they could go on about was whether or not my daughter was his because of how fair toned she is. FML

If I read this correctly you are an inter-racial couple and it turns out that people of any race can be racist... OP I am sorry that your partner’s family’s ignorance of basic genetics and probable prejudice ruined what was supposed to be a pleasant outing and reveal of their grandchild.

First who travels with an infant during a pandemic? Second clearly your partner knew better. Hugs just found out my monster in law is a racist

Some of these stories may have happened before the pandemic. But I agree that the partner knew better. Sounds like he tried his best, then caved in to appease OP. OP, don't do it again. Those people never change.

One more comment - Our extended family has some inter-racial children. Often children of inter-racial parents look fairer when they are infants and become a bit darker as they get older.

as a mixed person, I'm very fair toned but my parents are my parents.

all babies are born fair-skinned. idk how old the kids was when you introduced them, but there's also the whole "genetics don't actually pass down 50/50" thing, so unless the kid is literally a completely different color than both of you (2 white people having a black baby and vice versa) then don't worry about it
