Today, I realized how lonely I am, when I got a call from an elderly women who had dialed the wrong number. We ended up having a 20 minute conversation about her cat and how he "just won't use the darn litter pan." I was sad when she had to hang up. FML

Today, I realized how lonely I am when someone called my number by mistake and I talked with them for 5 minutes. I don’t know who she was, but I'm so lonely I was happy to have someone engage in a conversation, even if it was about her calling the wrong number. FML
Today, my phone rang for the first time in four days. It was my mom. She dialed the wrong number. FML
Today, I called the Suicide hotline. I dialled the number wrong and woke some poor old lady. She thought I was her son and kept asking me, "How come you don't visit anymore?" I told her I couldn't visit because of the Covid pandemic. I lied to an elderly woman I've never met. FML
Today, I was so desperately lonely that I begged a telemarketer not to hang up on me. FML
Today, a girl called me, asking for one of her friends. She wouldn't believe me when I told her she had the wrong number, and I spent a few minutes convincing her she did. After a while she said, "What the fuck?" and hung up. That was the longest conversation I had with a girl in months. FML
Today, I was so lonely, I dragged out a conversation with a lady who called to get me to make an appointment to give blood. FML
Today, I realized I've lived alone too long. I read 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' to my cat. I used expression in my voice, and I made sure he could see the pictures. My son called, and I told him about it. He gave me the number for the local psychiatric ward. FML
Today, I was so lonely, I wound up talking for two hours to the creep who calls my number every Friday night and makes creepy obscene breathing noises on the other end of the phone. Turns out he's a better listener than my husband. FML
Today, my girlfriend called me four times in a row at work. Worried, I stepped outside and answered the phone. Through tears, she screamed, "It's the cat!" Was he sick or hurt? "NO! He won't stop meowing!" FML
Today, I feel so lonely I talked to the likely scam number that called me. Even then they hung up after 2 minutes of talking to me. FML

I think that's pretty cool that you had a chat with her. But you could create a Facebook group or something (with some other people who are feeling lonely etc) and chat via that...

Hi OP, I'm sure there is something you enjoy doing: join a course about it, and you'll be around mostly like-minded people. I.e a cooking course: it's grate because you don't have to talk to the others if you don't feel like to (I guess you are a little bit shy?), but if you do you have plenty of things to talk about. Plus you get to improve your cooking skills which is handy in social situations. Or you can volunteer for something you care about. For example you can volunteer at your local dog-shelter, I guarantee you will soon make friends with the other volunteers, as having a common goal and working together for it creates a strong bond. Plus dogs are the best therapy for loneliness, and helping them out of the cage is cathartic. But do not go to one of those shelters where they put dogs down, you may not take that stress well. Or you can volunteer at a hospital: the gratitude of the patients for your time and care is priceless, just priceless. Good luck, and message me privately if you feel like talking :)
