Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I decided to adopt a 11 year-old dog that had been in need of a home for several months. Two hours after I got him home, I discovered him dead in the backyard. FML
Today, my 12 year-old dog died. My boyfriend's attempts to comfort me involved him muttering, "At least she knows how to play dead now." FML
Today, I went to move my dog that had been napping in the middle of my bed for the last few hours, only to discover that he wasn't napping. He died. FML
Today, I woke up, patted my dog and kissed his nose. He was dead. FML
Today, my pet bird died. He had caught some illness and had been extremely sick for the past few days. He didn't die from the illness though. My dog ate him. FML
Today, after calling my boyfriend and telling him that my dog had just died, he hesitated and stuttered, "She was old, sick, and suffering. Babe, it was her time to go." He then informed me he had to go to his friend's house and hung up. My dog was two years-old, in great health, and was hit by a car. FML
Today, I took my 17 year-old dog, who had been my best friend my entire life right from when I was born, to be euthanised. I had booked in advance. The vet ambled in all spritely and cheerfully asked, "Just here for a checkup, aye?" FML
Today, I knew it was going to be a fun day when I woke up to find that my kids' new puppy had died in the night. FML
Today, my dog of 10 years died suddenly. My husband’s response? “At least you don’t have to buy dog food anymore." FML
Today, I had to put my 12 year-old dog down because he had dementia. I was told I got to lay on the floor with him, and say when I was ready. The vet brought my dog out on a stretcher, had the vet tech put him in a choke-hold, and administered the drugs before I could speak. Now, I have PTSD and she has to undergo sensitivity training. FML

it might have been something else that ended up taking him, and 11 years for a Chihuahua is pretty good depending on the lifestyle, So sorry for you loss of him though. i love my female Chihuahua immensely as she has to be the quietest ever born. I lost my first chihuahua in 2019, on my 40th birthday she was just a couple months short of her 13th birthday. Ended up being kidney failure as she liked to eat a lot of human food. My new Chihuahua who is now 4 don't get to eat human food as much as my last and she gets way more exercise than her older sister did.

It’s possible that your dog’s death was coincidentally the day after your vet said nothing was wrong. Nothing lives forever, and maybe it was just your dog’s time. That doesn’t make the pain any less, though, and I’m sorry.

Veterans are not really good at diagnosing dog diseases. They are inexpensive and flexible, though. Just remember: veterinarian is the vet you need.

What a kind sentiment to offer someone who is grieving. It’s almost at if the same abbreviation can be used for different words, and as if context matters to reading comprehension. On a lighter post, you might have been clever. On my dead dog who we’d had for nearly half our lives ? Not cute. Nor kind. Read the room, and learn a little empathy.

Remember my comment a few FMLs up? This is the stuff I'm referring to man! You clearly haven't had pets before, the death of a pet is the death of a family member! Why don't you know that?
