Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my mom stole my holiday money because she found it “near her bag” in my kitchen and “assumed it was hers” and she must have “forgotten it was in there all this time.” I demanded it back, but she’d already spent it on hair, nails, shoes, and a date night with dad. She won’t pay me back either. FML
Today, my boss, a treacherous weasel, threw me under the bus for a £300 mistake I made on my first day a year ago as an intern, trying to distract from his £12,000 fuck up from today. He got suspended, but my wages are temporarily reduced until the money from my mistake is paid back, all £300 of it. FML
Today, I decided to cover a coworker's closing shift because she felt sick. My boss even gave me a $10 gift card for doing it. I felt good about it, until I walked outside and found that my car had been stolen. FML
Today, since it's company policy, I had to go to the back of my small store to retrieve an item for a customer, even though I was working by myself. I came back to find that since she couldn't get into the cash register, she found and stole my purse instead. FML
Today, I lost my $100 in cash that I had to use to pay my phone bill. As a result, my phone got cut off and I missed an important call for an apartment that I was looking at. When I went to work, I heard my boss saying how lucky she was to find $100 in cash. FML
Today, the passport office informed me I won't get my passport in time to go on holidays. However, they took the money for the passport out of my account 2 months ago, causing me to go overdrawn, and not pay my travel insurance. The same insurance I needed to get the cost of the holiday back. FML
Today, I went for a job interview. Before giving me a tour, the manager pointed to my purse and said, "Better leave that in my office." I didn't know why it was safer in her office than on my shoulder, but I complied. Later, I went to buy coffee and discovered that all my cash was missing. FML
Today, I got robbed at the gas station I work at. After only getting $38 dollars out the register, the guy then stole my purse. It had my rent money in it. FML
Today, I got on the bus and the driver said I didn't have to pay since the ticket machine was broken. I was happy to have saved £2.40 until I realised someone had stolen my new £700 phone while I was talking to the driver. FML
Today, my former boss is threatening to keep my last paycheck until I return a skateboard that a guest forgot at the hotel about a month ago. She was the one who gave me the order to put it in the trash. FML

If you are not covered under the business insurance then you should have refused to hold/transport it. Or least got your boss to sign you are not responsible if it's lost to replace it if he still wanted you to take the risk

Truly an FML, but the second you signed it out, it became your responsibility. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any recourse for you but to suck it up and pay it back to your company. If there is a next time, keep a better eye on your belongings, ask for an escort, or if you're no longer comfortable and there is someone else that can do it have them be the one to handle the money.

Why should anyone else pay when you took money from your Johanna left it unattended
GhostFox 34
For anyone that's confused "Johanna" is probably "job and".

Wow, how unfortunate. Always be mindful to keep you bag with you at all times when carrying large sums of money. But isn't your boss going to at least attempt to catch the thief? That sort of behavior shouldn't be tolerated at work.

It never said the money was stolen at work

This is kinda vague I think we need to have more info. If you take out the money and you are responsible then you should have been more careful with you purse and hopefully you kept it separate from your money. If your trying to go on a trip see if you can do a payment plan with your boss.

It sucks, but it is your responsibility to pay it back. In fact, you're lucky you were given the opportunity to pay it back. Some companies would terminate you and also make you pay it back (or deduct it from a final paycheck)

While I agree with your boss on this situation, it does suck for you.

Guess this would depend on the country and situation. In Sweden you can only ever be responsible in any way to pay for damages as an employee if you were negligent. I'd make sure that it actually is your legal responsibility to pay it back, if signing money out and taking it somewhere or doing something with it you should only be responsible if you were negligent, leaving your purse out of sight or open for instance, which if it doesn't sound like you we're from the FML.

If signing money out and taking it somewhere or doing something is part of your job you should only be responsible if you were negligent is what I wanted to say.

You signed it out, it is your responsibility! Why would you leave your handbag unattended with that much cash in it?
