Today, I found out my son was never accepted into the local university two years ago. He actually went out and got a job, and only lied about it so he could keep living in my house rent-free. The conniving bastard makes more than I do at my minimum-wage job. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I found out my son's dad stole his unemployment card and took the money. My son was homeless at the time and using his dad's address for mail. FML
Today, my son hates people so much he's working three jobs to be able move out and pay for his own place. He got the keys today and when I asked if he was having a housewarming party, he told me he’s not giving his address out to anyone, and no one is invited, ever, not even me. FML
Today, I found out that I was denied for work study eligibility by my college. I went to my financial advisor to ask why. It wasn't my grades or attendance. Apparently my father makes too much money for me to get a job at the school. My dad was fired 3 months ago and has been out of work since. FML
Today, I found out that the student tutor my son advised me to hire was my son's girlfriend. I have been paying her $20 an hour for the last 3 weeks to make out with my son in his room. FML
Today, I found out that my son (17) lied about not being able to get the time off from his job for our family vacation and has been partying and screwing his girlfriend while we're thousands of miles away. FML
Today, I found out my son has been lying about being sick. He kept complaining so I took him to the doctor and got him some medicine. Now he’s actually sick because he took meds he didn’t even need. He did it solely so he could get an expensive get well soon gift. FML
Today, I found out my dad tells everyone I’m still living in his house farting around on the internet. I’m a software engineer and I invest in the stock markets. I live in his house because I bought it off him when he fell behind on his own mortgage. I’ve been earning more than him since I was 22. FML
Today, I found out my son has not one, not two, but three children with various women. I confronted him about this and he truly doesn’t care. He has support payments he hasn’t paid in months, and he doesn’t even know his name of his youngest son, because he doesn’t care enough to remember it. FML
Today, thanks to my son's inability to keep his trap shut, and natural ability to piss everybody off, our landlord is now not renewing our lease at the end of the month, and went out of his way to let me know it is all my son's fault, and he can’t wait to personally kick us both into the street. FML
Today, my son claimed credit for a money-saving scheme at work that belonged to a colleague. He claimed this to someone in very upper management, but when they tried to ask follow-up questions, he obviously had no idea how to answer, admitted his lie and was sacked on the spot. FML

Give him a rental contract and tell him he can sign it or leave. It was unfair of him to do that. Also, did you not catch on that he wasn't in school when at least four sessions-worth of finals passed without him panicking?

honestly I feel that this sucks for you, but than I don't necessarily pitty you. if he's you're son, you should of been more aware as to what was going on in his life and be more interested in his schooling. like what did you expect when he didn't talk about his classes, and didn't bring school work back? he didn't even talk about stressing over finals.

He lied, ok... He makes more than you, ok. What have you done with your life that he was able to find a better job than you right out of high school? Why aren't you more involved with his life that it took two years for you to find the truth.

That's a little stupid, isn't it? Have you thought it may be possible said parent hasn't been able to, because they had a family to look after? Many jobs and skills require full-time availability, which isn't always possible.

Probably because he's been paying for tuition, books, gas, food, utilities, a mortgage, etc. on a minimum wage salary under the impression that his son could not provide for himself when, in fact, he's been making plenty of money and keeping it all to himself.

Well while his methods may be a bit... shady... at least you know you raised your kid to know how to take care of them self one way or another. better than a lot of parents do these days

It kind of sucks on your behalf that he was more afraid you'd be pissed he wasn't accepted into college, rather than feeling that you would be proud he got a good job. My parents were less than thrilled when I left college, but super-proud when I went into healthcare with on-the-job training and certification. You kind of sound like a dick parent.
