Today, yet again, despite the fact that I don't know anything about politics, I got roped into a political discussion with my roommates. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I went to a political debate, and now I'm more confused than when I arrived. FML
Today, when a discussion with my roommate veered into politics, he made it clear he thinks I'm an instrument of his oppression because I'm not a communist. I pay rent and utilities, and buy groceries. He and his wife take up most of the space in the apartment and I keep the secret that she never stopped cheating. FML
Today, I had a meeting at work. My boss was there as well as her boss, and a few other managers and directors. We started discussing politics in the context of our latest project. I tried to say "erratic election". I almost succeeded. FML
Today, my roommate woke me up during afternoon nap to tell me that I need to move out. His reason: "Our political differences will likely escalate to violence." FML
Today, my boyfriend and his friend were talking politics when my boyfriend referred to several female politicians as "yappy feminist scolds." They both laughed like oafs. I couldn't kick them both out fast enough. FML
Today, I was hanging out with my friends, and we got the idea to do some improv comedy together for a laugh. Barely two minutes into our fake political debate, everyone had apparently forgotten it was all a joke. Raging ensued, and a vicious fight quickly followed. FML
Today, my family’s usual Sunday dinner turned into a shouting match over politics. My uncle called me a “brainwashed socialist,” my cousin accused me of being a “capitalist pig,” and my grandma just sat there eating pie, which made me want to call her a "fence-sitting centrist", which is when I realized that maybe we shouldn't ever talk about politics again. FML
Today, I got a new roommate. I thought he was pretty cool until he mentioned how everything around us was a conspiracy. Then he asked if I knew how to make a bomb. FML
Today, I was chewed out and blocked by several of my “friends” because I never post anything political, and am therefore right wing. FML
Today, I complained to my two roommates about housework not being done. They both put their hands over their ears and started screaming at the top of their voice. They do this pretty much whenever I say anything to them. FML

That’s ok, the politicians don’t know anything either. So it’s an all around ignorance festival.

That’s ok, politics is generally people who don’t know anything pretending to know everything and arguing about it all, more to reassure themselves of their own opinions than to actually discuss anything.

The response is simple. --- Our first president had it right when he discussed in his Farewell Address that a two-party system would be detrimental to this great nation. Therefore you supporters of polarized partisan political ideological dogmas can go fly a kite and just argue amongst yourselves while I go over here and do something that I believe in. --- Then go to the only party that matters and find a person of your preferred gender/sexuality and make like you are procreating.

I feel you. EVERY TIME my stupid aunt and uncle show up, they always bring up how much they despise Trudeau and Biden. I wanna toss them out a window.

If you're old enough for roommates, you're old enough to research what's going on politically. Sucks to be drawn into conversations you don't want to deal with, but if the reason you don't want to engage is because you're politically ignorant, that's all on you.
