Today, my brother-in-law is super mean and treats me like shit, but carries his wife on a golden platter. I've literally done more for him the past 10+ years of my marriage than his wife of 3 years. I've taken bank loans, packed countless lunches, washed so much laundry, all while his wife doesn't lift a finger for him. FML
Today, my father-in-law is still introducing me to family friends as his son's girlfriend. I have been married to his son for 5 years, we have a child together and another on the way. FML
Today, a customer asked me if I was my husband's sister. A little flabbergasted, I replied, "No, I'm his wife." He went on to say, "Ah! But surely, you're related? Cousins?" FML
Today, my sister announced that she and her boyfriend are getting married. Her boyfriend is my husband. We're not even legally divorced yet. FML
Today, my boyfriend's mother introduced me as his "friend". We've been together for 10 years. FML
Today, my brother and his girlfriend are fighting about something they agreed on YEARS ago. Every couple of months this argument comes back and his girlfriend changes the rules or the definition. I can’t believe she gonna become my sister-in-law. FML
Today, I discovered that my stepbrother has been telling his friends that I'm his girlfriend. FML
Today, I got married. After the ceremony, my sister asked to talk to me. I followed her and she told me that we are no longer related because we don't have the same last name anymore. FML
Today, I got fired from my job. My boss is my brother. His reason being that, "it would create awkward tension between us." I've been working for him for 5 years, and it's like he's only just realised that I was there. FML
Today, I got tired of my brother-in-law making disgusting immature misogynistic remarks so I decided to shut him down by boasting that I make twice his annual salary in a month. Now my husband is pissed at me for humiliating his brother, and letting everyone know out-earn them both. FML

It's a weird term when you think about it. If you became his sister by marriage, then you and his brother are committing incest. At least someone thinks about some of the oddities of the English language.

Maybe he thinks siblings in law are only the siblings of a person's spouse? Which makes him your brother-in-law but not you his sister-in-law. It's wrong, but understandable.

You can't really control what a person says or thinks of you. At least he acknowledges that you're married to his brother. How he chooses to acknowledge it is up to him. if he doesn't want to add a new sister to his words, at the end of the day, it's his mouth and you can't police it, so live with it and get over it. At least he isn't insulting you or swearing at you or yelling at you.
