Make it stop
Today, I told my cousin it would be okay if he stayed the weekend after a fight with his wife. He didn't tell me he was bringing his 4 kids. They've watched funny cat videos for hours and they laugh like maniacs. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I've been on vacation with my friend and his family for a week. Apparently, his idea of a vacation includes constant screaming arguments with his wife, while their kids sob in the living room. I tried to take the kids out once and got a lecture on boundaries, which started another huge fight. FML
Today, some of my relatives are staying over. My husband was late from work, so I rang him. Apparently, he remembers the family drama and the screaming matches from last time, so he’s checked himself into a hotel until my circus of an extended family are gone. FML
Today, my 4 year old cousin is staying overnight. Every time I fall asleep he wakes me up to tell me I fell asleep. FML
Today, despite the fact that I'm really sick, my mom insisted that I come home and help babysit my cousins this weekend. When I got there, everyone else took off to do "errands," leaving me with three hyperactive, howler monkey-like children to deal with. FML
Today, I was babysitting with my best friend, watching my one-year-old cousin. We thought it would be funny to say a bunch of swear words in front of him, since he didn't know how to talk. Five minutes later, guess what his first word was? And guess who won't be invited over for a while? FML
Today, my cousin tried to hit on me. I told him that was inappropriate and pushed him off me. He was offended when I went to tell my folks. All they said was, “That’s fine. You should’ve let him.” Um, what? FML
Today, all I wanted was to take my two kids and their two favourite cousins to the beach on their last day of vacation together. My mother-in-law went into full beast mode, shouting about how I'm always roaming around and being irresponsible. The kids never meet and are from different cities. FML
Today, my son, who I admit has a temper, met his cousins from France for the first time. Straight away he lost his temper, but before I could step in, his younger cousin knocked him out cold with a right hook, looked me dead in the eye and said, “That’s how you get a bitch under control.” FML
Today, I walked in on my grandmother's cats fighting, and my brothers gambling on it. FML
Today, my family got very upset with me when I advised my brother’s girlfriend to take the kids and leave. They’re more upset with me telling her that, than the fact that my brother is an abusive serial cheater and a raging alcoholic, who hits her and the kids. FML

It could be worse. Imagine if they were running around knocking things down or summoning a demon named Randy and laughing manically.

It's your place. Lay down the law. Turn the stupid videos off and send the brats outside.

You could always introduce them to FailArmy, which has a side effect of making you feel better about your situation.

At least he didn't proceed to leave them with you while he went off into the night.

I didn't expect this to get published... Anyway, here's more information. He has 4 girls aged 6 (twins), 8, and 11. I don't have a TV or a yard for them to use so they stay on my computer which is worth 1200. They fight over how close they can get to it and my cousin is really too depressed to discipline them. He and his wife are getting a divorce, but have been trying to hide it from his children. The oldest found out and is threatening to tell the younger ones if she doesn't get extra snacks. I really dislike kids and would prefer to slap some sense into all 5 of them.

Why did he need to bring the kids with him? That's what I'd like to know. If it was just his wife and him fighting then why couldn't the children stay with their mother? Is she abusive or something so he needed to get them away from her? Does she just want to be alone right now? If so, why didn't she just leave? Is he depressed because of the argument or has he been like this for a while? If he's been depressed for a while then maybe he should get some help. If it's because of the marriage then it's probably good that they are getting divorced.

In your shoes, I'd tell him that either he can tell the younger kids about the divorce, or I will. They won't thank him for hiding it from them, and if the oldest is already using it as blackmail it needs snipped in the bud before she moves on to using things like accusations of abuse as blackmail.
