Make it stop
Today, I told my cousin it would be okay if he stayed the weekend after a fight with his wife. He didn't tell me he was bringing his 4 kids. They've watched funny cat videos for hours and they laugh like maniacs. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I've been on vacation with my friend and his family for a week. Apparently, his idea of a vacation includes constant screaming arguments with his wife, while their kids sob in the living room. I tried to take the kids out once and got a lecture on boundaries, which started another huge fight. FML
Today, some of my relatives are staying over. My husband was late from work, so I rang him. Apparently, he remembers the family drama and the screaming matches from last time, so he’s checked himself into a hotel until my circus of an extended family are gone. FML
Today, my 4 year old cousin is staying overnight. Every time I fall asleep he wakes me up to tell me I fell asleep. FML
Today, despite the fact that I'm really sick, my mom insisted that I come home and help babysit my cousins this weekend. When I got there, everyone else took off to do "errands," leaving me with three hyperactive, howler monkey-like children to deal with. FML
Today, I was babysitting with my best friend, watching my one-year-old cousin. We thought it would be funny to say a bunch of swear words in front of him, since he didn't know how to talk. Five minutes later, guess what his first word was? And guess who won't be invited over for a while? FML
Today, my cousin tried to hit on me. I told him that was inappropriate and pushed him off me. He was offended when I went to tell my folks. All they said was, “That’s fine. You should’ve let him.” Um, what? FML
Today, all I wanted was to take my two kids and their two favourite cousins to the beach on their last day of vacation together. My mother-in-law went into full beast mode, shouting about how I'm always roaming around and being irresponsible. The kids never meet and are from different cities. FML
Today, my son, who I admit has a temper, met his cousins from France for the first time. Straight away he lost his temper, but before I could step in, his younger cousin knocked him out cold with a right hook, looked me dead in the eye and said, “That’s how you get a bitch under control.” FML
Today, I walked in on my grandmother's cats fighting, and my brothers gambling on it. FML
Today, my family got very upset with me when I advised my brother’s girlfriend to take the kids and leave. They’re more upset with me telling her that, than the fact that my brother is an abusive serial cheater and a raging alcoholic, who hits her and the kids. FML

It could be worse. Imagine if they were running around knocking things down or summoning a demon named Randy and laughing manically.

If you can't beat them, join them; cat videos aren't so bad? Besides its good family time

I'm sorry, maybe show them depressing videos?

I don't get why the man always has to be the one to leave the house. I'm not being sexist or anything, but just wondering.

#3 Maybe because he did something wrong or the wife is abusive/doesn't want him or the kids around? Not hard to figure out..

#3, men are definitely not always the one to leave the house -- and this was stated as for the weekend, not permanently. Quite frequently it's whoever wants out who goes, or sometimes whoever has somewhere else to go immediately. It's often easier to leave than to try to kick someone else out of a place.

I feel like it would've been easier for the wife to just leave the house and let everyone else stay at home.

it's not always the man. when my sister and her husband separated, he basically kicked her (and their six month old) out. they eventually reconciled, and even had another kid, but still, at the time, she was the one forced to leave (and the initial separation was both their faults, not just hers).

If it's really that bat, it's your house. Tell them to quiet down or go where they can't be heard.

At the end of the day, it's your house. You probably shouldn't kick 4 kids out onto the street but you can put in place some rules for them. Google "polite spine".
