Long distance
Today, I'm in my fourth month of training in the US Navy. I'm 3000 miles from home. I joined to give my wife a better life. Since I've been gone, she decided that she liked being single. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, after I was on deployment 6000 miles away, and because my wife was struggling pretty bad with work, kids, and taking care of everything on her own, she finally had a breakdown so I came home early to help. I found out she was fucking another Navy dude the whole time. I should've stayed out there. FML
Today, I'm seven months into a twelve month deployment. I called my fiancée, and she dumped me. The worst part is that two days ago, I re-enlisted to go to a unit an hour away from her house. FML
Today, my girlfriend of three years broke up with me because I'm in the military and I'm gone too much. The reason I enlisted in the first place is because we agreed that the money and benefits I would earn would help us be able to start a family in the future. FML
Today, I got back from a six month deployment overseas. My girlfriend of three years couldn't pick me up from the airport because she had an intramural softball game to go to. FML
Today, I found out my new Commanding Officer is my ex-wife's new boyfriend. We're going on a two year tour at sea in two weeks. The reason we got a divorce is that she couldn't handle being tied down with someone in the Navy. FML
Today, I got back from an 8 month deployment but rather than being pleased to see me my wife wanted to continue the same argument we were having the day I left. I miss being shot at. FML
Today, my girlfriend of six months dumped me over the phone. I'm in the military and recently had to move away to another fort. We'd agreed that we would try to make long distance work. I'd even offered to buy a plane ticket to come see her each weekend. I've been gone less than two weeks. FML
Today, I found out after 6 months in basic training that my wife of 3 years was playing the long game to scam me. She took me for 25k while I was away, then left me for a homeless meth head. I've been "getting divorced" now longer than we had been happily married. FML
Today, my girlfriend of over a year broke up with me while I'm deployed overseas. Her reason why is that she needs "to be alone to better herself." FML
Today, I graduated from Basic Training. I was really looking forward to seeing my family after being away for almost three months. They decided not to come to graduation because they didn't want to spend the money to travel here. They live 30 minutes away. FML

Yo, man, there's plenty of women who'd love to be with a Navy guy like yourself. Keep your head up.

I am right there with you. My husband wants to join the army so that he can financially support me but I'd much rather be dirt poor and wake up beside him each morning knowing he's safe than have him leave for long periods of time. It's something he wants to do though and so I'm being supportive. However I'm secretly hoping his medical waiver gets denied =

Also this was supposed to be a reply to someone, not a comment to the OP. To the OP, Find yourself a woman who can love you and the sacrifices you are making. Afterall, I'm sure it's not a walk in the park for you either. Stay strong, and thank you.

I understand men who do this are honestly trying to do the best for their wife/family, but seriously, most women would rather a husband who is AT HOME earning a bit less than away from home 6 months of the year earning more money. I read a story once about a guy who was working 80 hour weeks so that he and his wife could live in an apartment block with doorman/security etc etc and his relationship with his wife was going on a downwards spiral something chronic and he couldn't understand how she kept accusing him of not loving her. He was thinking "WTF do you think I'm working 80 hours a week for?!" but she would have MUCH rathered have him at home earning less and living in a regular apartment block than never having him home. Their relationship got HEAPS better when he quit his job and they moved and he got a job working 40 - 50 hours a week. I don't want to say YDI because no guy (well not most guys) deserves that, and you were trying to do what you thought was right. And it is an FML in some ways because, well, a person really does have to think "man, that's f'ed". You were trying to do the right thing. But fail on the whole communication thing dude.

I'm seriously going to put this on a macro. Read this over and over until you understand it, then read it 10x more. YOU. CANNOT. DEFEND. YOUR. OWN. COUNTRY. ON. A. DIFFERENT. CONTINENT. Got it? Your comment makes no sense, based on that.

Hey its the theory of preemptive strike, and essentially every military theory developed out the window number 113, and like #114 said and the entirety of history. Let me try to explain it to you: there is a guy who wants to kill you, he in many cases tries to kill you, he will try to kill you and your family again, so you kill him at his house. In fact with long range ballistics someone can kill your cities without even leaving your country. Congratulations on ignorance #113.

Talk about ignorance. "there is a guy who wants to kill you" But that's not what this is, is it? No, America thinks there's some bully who wants to kill them, and decided to kill them first. Big difference.

I feel your pain but I know your trying to do good but to all you trash talkers out there not everyone in the military is a blood hungry idiot trying to kill whatever we can I've been to iraq and yeah there are killings but hey it happens every where and we try to help we give people food clothes toys and in case you people didn't know we don't shoot at anyone unless we are fired upon go look up the rules of war i m just saying I've been there and those guys suicide bomb each other and innocent people get hurt but most of you trash talkers wouldn't understand because you've never been there or ever will Hope you feel better keep doing good

Once you can write something legible I might be able to find an argument in there, but until then there's nothing that makes sense in that statement.
