Last Christmas

Today, I looked at my neighbor's empty lawn; he's an old guy and he usually has the best Christmas lights. We knew he might not be able to do them this year, so I felt bad and I did them for him. Later, a neighbor asked about them and I told her that I helped out. She said, "You do know he died, right?" FML

He's there in spirit. You did a nice thing.

Well, you were right when you figured he wouldn't be able to do them this year anyway...

That's the kind of thing you should have asked about before doing. You don't just mess around with other people's property without asking, nice thing or not.

OP doesnt deserve it. Why so many YDIs? Although this is sad, props to you for doing this. Merry Christmas =)

How is this a YDI?

I guess people think he should have known that his neighbor was dead.

Awe but you did a really wonderful thing. If he wasn't dead I'm sure he would have appreciated it very much!

So op, have you decided what day you're going to take them down yet?

now you have to take them down too...

Wow that stinks

Good for you, you had good intentions

Ahahaha that sucks! XD but it's the thought that matters so you did good :)

*you did well. Sorry, the good/ well thing bugs me.

Nobody cares

English teachers care.

That's such a lovely thing for you to do, OP. Even though he passed away, you've kind of proven that he left some kind of mark upon the neighbourhood by recreating his Christmas display. It's nice to know he left memories behind.
