Today, my 7 year-old looked at me and stated, "When I grow up Mommy I want to be fat just like you." FML
Today, I have discovered that my daughter is struggling with anorexia. When I sat down to talk with her about it, she said it’s because, "all the other kids at school keep calling her fat." She was underweight before, and has now gone to being severely underweight. FML
Today, my 4-year-old daughter asked me when I was going to be skinny like her daycare lady. FML
Today, my 6-year-old daughter walked into the bathroom where I was grumbling about my weight. Seeing how upset I was, she took my hand and said, "Mom, you're not fat. You just look fat." FML
Today, the school called my dad telling him they want to put me on a diet, because they're worried about my weight. FML
Today, I tried to nicely talk to my daughter about her rapid weight gain. Having a family history of weight-related illness, I felt it was necessary. I offered to get thyroid tests, teach her to buy healthy food, and start routine exercise. She told everyone I called her a cow and had fat-shamed her. FML
Today, I was watching my 7 year-old daughter and her friend jump on our trampoline. I was really impressed by all the flips they were doing, and I told her, "Hey! I can't even do that." To that her friend replied, "Of course you can't. You're fat!" FML
Today, I told my kids that our family dog was getting too fat and we should give him a little less food. My youngest daughter whispered to her sister, "Mommy's fat and we still give her food." FML
Today, I overheard my daughter compliment my mother by saying "My mom is way flabbier than you, Grandma." When I told her later that she hurt my feelings, she told me to "man up." She's seven. FML
Today, my patient, a chubby little girl, stood on a scale to measure her weight. She was 5 years-old and weighed 65 lbs. I started giving her advice on eating healthy: fruits, vegetables, and more greens. She turned to her mother with shocked look and said, "But mommy, the doctor is fat too!" FML

I bet she isn't saying that for no reason. Maybe I'm naive, but I think perhaps if a 7 year old (sorry to add this, but American) girl is embarrased about your size, perhaps you are legitimately overweight and in an unhealthy condition. Maybe look into that before feeling offended.

Everyone saying YDI needs to go jump in a lake. It is NOT OP's fault that she isn't a size 2 supermodel. We don't know how big she is; she could be a perfectly healthy size and weight, but the seven-year-old is being brought up in a society where only one body type is acceptable, and that's all she sees on TV (dear God I hope she doesn't watch Hannah Montana), so of course if her mother is the slighest bit different than what's seen on TV, she's going to say something. The point is, the daughter was out of line and needs to be taught that saying such things isn't right. She should have learned that in kindergarten but hey, parents aren't parents these days.

If a seven year old is embarassed of you, it means something. Now, if she was 14 it would be a completely different story. Anyways... Sorry, OP, maybe you should loose some weight.,
