Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my 7 year-old looked at me and stated, "When I grow up Mommy I want to be fat just like you." FML
Today, I have discovered that my daughter is struggling with anorexia. When I sat down to talk with her about it, she said it’s because, "all the other kids at school keep calling her fat." She was underweight before, and has now gone to being severely underweight. FML
Today, my 4-year-old daughter asked me when I was going to be skinny like her daycare lady. FML
Today, my 6-year-old daughter walked into the bathroom where I was grumbling about my weight. Seeing how upset I was, she took my hand and said, "Mom, you're not fat. You just look fat." FML
Today, the school called my dad telling him they want to put me on a diet, because they're worried about my weight. FML
Today, I tried to nicely talk to my daughter about her rapid weight gain. Having a family history of weight-related illness, I felt it was necessary. I offered to get thyroid tests, teach her to buy healthy food, and start routine exercise. She told everyone I called her a cow and had fat-shamed her. FML
Today, I was watching my 7 year-old daughter and her friend jump on our trampoline. I was really impressed by all the flips they were doing, and I told her, "Hey! I can't even do that." To that her friend replied, "Of course you can't. You're fat!" FML
Today, I told my kids that our family dog was getting too fat and we should give him a little less food. My youngest daughter whispered to her sister, "Mommy's fat and we still give her food." FML
Today, I overheard my daughter compliment my mother by saying "My mom is way flabbier than you, Grandma." When I told her later that she hurt my feelings, she told me to "man up." She's seven. FML
Today, my patient, a chubby little girl, stood on a scale to measure her weight. She was 5 years-old and weighed 65 lbs. I started giving her advice on eating healthy: fruits, vegetables, and more greens. She turned to her mother with shocked look and said, "But mommy, the doctor is fat too!" FML

Ouch! Children are honest like that. She doesn't mean it in a horrible way, just try it. Who knows?

Here comes family fun day. She said stop eating, if you may. With embarrassment on her face, she told her mom to drop her off at that place. Her mother realizing her weight was her issue, she grabbed a hand full of tissue.

My whole life I've been called fat by family and friends I'm fatter than a guy a grade above me!

I love how I read this while eating a chocolate Easter egg. I'm not considered overweight by any means, but we all make mistakes and we all like to eat! Better to get that gym membership now, best time of year for some great deals! ;)

Don't worry too much OP. The media is teaching girls that you have to look like a super model to be pretty when most of us aren't. Beauty comes in many shapes and sizes. Unless you sit on your butt all day stuffing junk food in your mouth nonstop, there's no YDI here so ignore all these skinny people that think weight loss is some easy always 100% attainable thing.

On the plus side, if the bouncy fun house deflates, the kids can always bounce on you! Everyone loves bouncing on fat ladies, that's how you got a seven-year-old ;)

Am I the only one who thinks op's kid was being rude? I know she is only seven, but if she is smart enough to tell her mom this in the way age did she is smart enough to know she was being hurtful.

Reading this comment, the only thing I can see is Kermit the Frog's face bobbing left and right while his mouth runs up and down. And the picture is stationary. I watch too much muppets.
