You're an idiot OP. Unless you've signed a contract, yes you can quit. You need to give two weeks. That's all. don't be such a push over. If you're not happy then yes, quit your job.

Unless company policy or the law in your area requires you to give prior notice, that's illegal. YDI for not standing up for your rights. If not, YDI for disobeying the rules. Of course, you don't have to show up if you don't want to, but that will go on your permanent record. *shrug* The choice is up to you.
