Hyperrealism
Today, I was rejected for a dream photography job that involves travelling all over the world, because according to the interviewer, half the photos in my nature portfolio were "blatantly photoshopped." I guess reality isn't realistic enough for some people. FML

That's awful. Maybe you could try to show your portfolio to another member of management? It might not do any good because you have already been rejected, but if your work is so excellent that someone automatically thinks that it has been photoshopped then someone there has to appreciate it. Good luck, OP. Art is a beautiful thing.

It's a shame that in a world where we have the technology to imitate talent, when people with actual talent show up, everyone instantly thinks it's fake.

He's jealous. It seems like everyone is quick to call something photoshopped.

No. They were instagram filtered, not photoshop.

Why did you not suggest that you could provide RAW files (or negatives/slides if you use analog)?

I would have promptly whipped out my cellphone, snapped a quick pick of my hairy balls, and proceeded to question him as to whether or not he thought they were real.

I don't know much about photography, but I'd have asked him to point it out, then I'd prove him wrong.

and they say having negatives are out dated.

...ironic, considering you're applying for a job in a field in which many photos that are taken are post-processed in Photoshop or Lightroom or whatever anyway. The way I see it, you can take your craft to a place that is willing to accept you. That's a pile of horseshit. Alternately, show the boss the RAW images, if possible.

I bet he could tell from some of the pictures and from seeing quite a few shops in his time.
