History matters
Today, I got a history project back that I worked very hard on. The teacher didn't bother to write any feedback, besides, "Did you even understand the assignment?" on the back. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, the feedback my teacher wrote on my English assignment was so horrible that it took me half an hour and help from both my parents to decipher it. It turned out to be a scathing criticism of my "poor communication skills". I hate my teachers. FML
Today, I asked my professor what happened to the assignment I gave him several weeks ago. Turns out he lost it, and graded me zero as a result. Now if I want a mark, he says I'll have to hand-write it all over again, but that I "probably shouldn't bother," because it was "a bit shit, really." FML
Today, I had my teacher look over my essay before turning it in. He said it was extremely well-written, so I handed it in. When I got it back, the feedback he left said it was one of the worst essays he'd ever read. FML
Today, after turning in a paper that I worked really hard on, I got it back with a grade of 0. In the feedback section, my professor wrote: “In all my 37 years of teaching, this is by far the worst essay I have ever read.” FML
Today, I got my language final exam back. It was a 10-page essay front and back, and I saw that I received a D. The teacher told me the plot was too hard to follow and it jumped all over the place. It turns out he forgot to read the back of every page. FML
Today, my teacher gave me a 0% on my personal narrative in my writing class. His only comment on the whole paper was, "Too long, didn't read." FML
Today, I tried really hard for once on an assignment. I was told it was my worst work yet and that I may as well have turned nothing in at all. FML
Today, I got a writing assignment back. After meeting with my professor specially after class and meticulously combing through every word of that paper, I got a low D. Turns out, he graded me down on every suggestion of his that I took. FML
Today, I turned in an essay after staying up late to work on it. I was away when the teacher assigned it, so I'd asked my friend what the subject was. It transpires that she'd given me the wrong one, all because she was mad at me for not returning her pencil. FML
Today, I got my grades back. I got a very poor evaluation for my lit class, which was odd because it didn't match the impression from my end-of-class meeting with the professor. It does, however, include a nod to the supposedly-anonymous negative class review I gave her, though. FML

Is it possible that you answered the wrong question or something? I've done that, where I've gone off on such a long tangent it seemed like I was writing a different essay, and the rest was History.

Leave it back on your teacher's desk with a message: "did you even understand my essay?"

Here's a crazy idea. How about you use the "reply" button to actually respond to the first comment instead of using it to put your two cents at the top.

Tell her that you did but you thought it wasn't interesting so you preferred to do something else. Also tell her you're passionate about the stuff you wrote and share a touching anecdote about your childhood. It's called appeal to emotion. (yes. This is what my English class has turned me into).

And why assume the teacher was a female?

You most probably did not read the exact question and made a partial assumption on what was being asked, which turned out to not be what they asked. Seen this often in classes where people do not read the question exactly.

One time I worked on journal entries from the point of view of a character in a book. My feedback was "Actually, [the character] was a very sophisticated writer." SLAM

You must have had the same professor I had for my anthropology class.

36-- Because English has no third person, singular pronoun typically used to refer to people, and without knowing the teacher's actual gender, 16 had three options: 1. Make a guess 2. Use the clumsy, yet politically correct, 'him or her' 3. Use the (in this case) ungrammatical third person plural pronoun 'them'. 16 chose wisely.

Wow, what a rotten teacher. I suppose you could always ask him/her just what you did wrong and try to get clarification.

Even if the essay is awesome, if you have diverged from the topic too much, it is still an F

Some people are just not meant to be teachers
