Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my best friend refuses to attend my wedding, all because I’m marrying her ex. He left her for me but didn’t cheat. We just fell in love and he had the decency to leave the relationship before starting to date me. She refuses to understand that no matter how hard I try to explain. FML
Today, my fiancé of two years told me he was bored of me and he'd just prolonged the engagement to see if anyone more interesting would come along in the mean time. He was upset because no one did. FML
Today, one of my closest friends informed me that she wasn't going to invite me to her wedding, because I'm too shy and not enough fun, and she doesn't want her 200 or so guests to feel uncomfortable. I was the one who set the happy couple up. FML
Today, my boyfriend bailed on our one year anniversary celebration because his ex girlfriend asked him to go to a wedding with her and pose as her fake boyfriend. FML
Today, my fiancé's best friend, who will be our best man at our wedding, decided to confess his feelings for me and tell me how he's always dreamed of us eloping together. The wedding is going to be awkward. FML
Today, my best friend of over 16 years is getting married. I was supposed to be her Maid of Honor. Instead I was uninvited a few weeks ago. FML
Today, my boyfriend of a year went to a wedding. He didn't invite me, he took his ex instead. I saw it all on Instagram. FML
Today, I arrived at my best friend's wedding and found out that my invitation was no longer valid. His brother tried to explain that they'd decided to make the ceremony for family members only, then two our classmates popped out to say hello. They're not related, neither to my friend nor to his fiancée. FML
Today, my boyfriend stood me up. At dinner with his parents. FML
Today, my boyfriend of several years told me the only way he’d ever consider getting married was if we had no wedding, just signing the paper at the courthouse with no ceremony or guests whatsoever, and as long as we don’t tell anyone about it. He doesn’t get why I’m devastated. FML

Well, he's not wrong. Weddings are typically incredibly ******* boring.

I'm curious as to how you managed to get from OP's boyfriend not wanting to attend their best friends wedding to OP's boyfriend not wanting to be with them, relationship-wise.

Sounds like he’s not going to be marrying you anytime soon. He’ll need to suffer through your friend’s tedious wedding to oblige her to endure your boring, piece of crap nuptials.

Hate to say it, but I think he doesn't want to be with you.

He might just be afraid of being there when you catch the bouquet

Could be because he just doesn’t like your friend.

In his defense, it's your best friend. He has no obligation to attend her wedding. They are boring, and so who can blame him? If the shoe was on the other foot and his homie was getting married, you wouldn't wanna go either. Only to party after.

Weddings take too long, and are unnecessary to show you love someone else. People only go to weddings because it usually provides another excuse to get drunk. And kids only go because they're forced.

I think you should look at it as he told you the truth, not trying to makeup reasons he’s unable to attend

If it's important to you, that should be what's important
