Get the **** out
Today, I can no longer tolerate my mother-in-law. She's not a bad person, but anytime she opens her mouth it is only to criticize, chastise, scold, or blame me. My husband is too terrified of her to ask her to leave our home. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my hate for my mother-in-law now outweighs my love for my husband. FML
Today, my husband told me that he's letting his mother move in with us. He told her it was alright without even consulting me first. I hate my mother-in-law so much that I'm contemplating divorce rather than living with her. FML
Today, in the entire half-hour since my mother-in-law reached our home, she's inspected and criticised every aspect of our home, despite things being spot clean. And sermoned me non stop on how to "live". My husband still wonders why I don't want her visiting. It"s going to be a long two weeks. FML
Today, my mother-in-law yelled from across the house for me to come quickly. She sounded frantic, so I rushed and asked what was wrong. She said, "Nothing." and that she just wanted to remind me that she hates my guts. She'll be living here with me and my wife for the next two months. FML
Today, my future mother-in-law started shit-talking me on Facebook, and we got into a heated argument. She called me later in the day, saying I'll be lucky if I ever marry her son and that, "You'll suffer to your last breath." I'm now terrified to set foot outside. FML
Today, my mother-in-law told my fiancé that I had to leave and wasn’t allowed to live there anymore. I own the house. She’s mad because I locked the door so she couldn't walk in anytime she wanted. FML
Today, I was trying to explain to my mother-in-law how I hated the way my father-in-law talks to me, the tone he uses. She thought I was attacking him and got mad at me. FML
Today, and since we've had our baby, my mother-in-law started coming round more often, then bringing her stuff to stay overnight, then started claiming she lived here, and got hysterical when we told her she doesn’t. I had to pick her up and place her outside while she punched me in the head repeatedly. FML
Today, like every time I visit the in-laws, my father-in-law is driving me crazy. He gets all holier than thou sometimes, and even my mother-in-law agrees he just talks to hear himself speak. It gets so bad that I resort to cleaning their house to ignore him. At least then he leaves me alone. Starting their dishes in 5. FML
Today, my mother-in-law constantly threatens to commit suicide, unless my husband pays her bills. He told me I don’t care about his happiness because I told him he can’t keep giving in to her guilt trips. FML

She definitely sounds like a bad person. Especially if she's treating you like that on top of taking advantage of you and your kindness. Get her out before it's too late.

I bet your MIL is just dealing with her own issues and this is how it comes out. Would be interesting if instead of expressing vitriol when struggling people double downed on being pleasant...Would that be a better world?

that makes her a bad person. your husband needs to buck up and be a United front and handle her with you before you snap and it becomes a her or me situation

Kinda sounds exactly like a bad person. If not that, then at least a harmful one.

kick her out yourself, and tell her to take her wimp of a child with her

I've kicked my MIL out a bunch of times! Every time for this very reason. By no means do you have to stand there and take it! Especially in your own home. You need to express your feelings with your husband and come to an understanding about how she treats you and what can slide and what can not. Then inform her that if she can not be civil and keep her opinions to herself, then she will not be welcomed in your home.

If she truly only ever criticizes you, chastises you, scolds you and blames you for things that are not really your fault, how is she not a bad person? If that is truly all she does, she doesn't really seem to ping any of the "Good Person" check list items. And your husband is terrified of her? But she's not a bad person? She raised him, right? So why would he be afraid of her if she was a good person? Stop rationalizing how you feel about someone who is draining the energy from you and your family. Get rid of her.
