Today, I have to wear earplugs in my own apartment because my neighbor won't turn down his music. My landlord doesn't believe me because "people with disabilities can't be rude." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Boom boom boom
Today, I finally had some alone time to relax and watch a movie. As soon as I pressed play, my neighbor started blasting their music so loud I could feel the bass in my chest. I tried calling the landlord, but they didn't answer. I ended up watching the movie with subtitles while listening to my neighbor's music. FML
I CAN HEAR YOU
Today, as usual, my flatmate is so loud when talking face to face that my ears and head rattle. I can't say anything because how dare I suggest there's anything wrong with my roommate's hearing. Yet nobody else talks this loud. FML
Asshats everywhere
Today, I've suffered 3 months of my neighbor blasting his music so loud, it shakes my apartment floor. None of my noise complaints are ever followed up, but the moment I give him a piece of my mind, he calls the cops, and they threaten me with jail time over a few curse words. FML
Today, my landlord came to my apartment because of complaints from my neighbors, saying that animals are not allowed inside. Turns out my roommate makes cat-noises when she's bored. My landlord still doesn't believe me. FML
Time for tinnitus
Today, my roommate shouted his entire part of the conversation at the dinner table. He refuses to get his hearing checked, nor lower his voice, so now my ears hurt for the rest of the evening. FML
Today, I was called an "inconsiderate scum bucket" by my neighbor because I allowed my loud alarm to go on too long before silencing it. The only reason that I sleep through my alarm is because I have to wear earplugs, as they have their TV on maximum volume until 4am. FML
Today, after 3 days of interrupted sleep, I confronted my new neighbor about the noise his wife keeps making during their "private time". He then let me know the noise is actually from his daughter, who's mentally disabled and isn't taking the move well. FML
Pavarotti next door
Today, I had to hear my neighbor whine again through the walls because he can't talk in a quiet voice. You can hear him from across the street, and that's before he gets drunk. FML
Today, my dick of a neighbor tried to file a noise complaint against me, all because I have the flu and am sneezing a lot. FML
Fake it til you make it
Today, to make my dorm neighbours think I'm popular, I blasted music and screamed at the top of my lungs so it sounded like I was having a party. My residence manager slapped me with a noise violation, and demanded to come in to make sure we weren't drinking. I had to explain why I was by myself. FML

I never like involving the police, but maybe now's the time for that?

Or call the landlord when the music is up and let him hear it through the phone.

Having seen the music video for "Turn Down For What", I wouldn't recommend either of those things. The cop will end up joining the party and whoever picks up the phone will have his face melted...

My apartment complex won't do anything unless there is a police report written. Talk to your neighbor and when that fails (which it seems it has), call the police.

Agree. Talk to your neighbor, but if it doesn't help, call the cops!

Maybe talking to the neighbor might help? Sorry OP, I hope this issue can be resolved!

Some people have the most skewed logic ever. Sorry OP, I hope you'll be able to come to a compromise with your neighbor

I agree! Why should a disabled person be considered any less of an arsehole just because of their disability? Still a human being. Still capable of being rude!

Blast Justin Bieber music and promise not to stop until they do too.

Nobody deserves that

If anything, play Adele. At least "Rolling in the deep" sound better than anything by Bieber.

Plot twist - the neighbour is a JBiebz fan (<3 etc), decides OP is his soulmate and starts stalking him. Without turning down the music.

I'm really sorry OP. My brother-in-law and sister had to go through this. Honestly, the best advice I have is call the police when he won't turn down the music, and if the landlord tries to evict you, fight it. The landlord legally has to do something about it and obviously they aren't doing anything. Another option is move out without the 30 day notice. I know, normally, you have to give them a month's advance of the move, BUT this is so unacceptable.

Don't police handle noise complaints? If the asshat won't turn the music down he might reconsider after being fined. Or you could put some gay **** on with the volume all the way up while you are at work. .
