Dumpster diving
Today, my boyfriend found the box of photos I've been saving for my daughter. He was convinced I was pining over her father and emptied the box into the dumpster behind our apartment. I'm still not done digging through the garbage to find the photos from the day my daughter was born. FML

I think I would leave a partner that irrational!

Total disrespect for someone's property and boundaries is a classic sign of abuse, and combined with rabid jealousy, this doesn't bode well.

Why isn't the boyfriend the one digging through the dumpster? He did the bad deed, he should be trying to fix his mistake.

I get the suspicion that if he was told to retrieve them he would have torn them up or at least left several behind. After that stunt I can understand her not wanting to take the risk.

please update us on if you find all the photos

Once you find those photos scan them and then store them in a safety deposit box, fire/waterproof safe, or similar safe place if possible. And yes, consider ending your relationship. It wasn't okay for him to trash them regardless of the reason you kept the photos.

It takes a special kind of person to think its ok to throw away someone's pictures of their child. I can't think of a situation where this would be acceptable. You don't deserve that, I don't care who you are.

My bitch of a **** of 9 years did the same thing to me. 40 years of my life history went into trash while I wasn't home. It had my baby pictures, my parent pictures in their young age, my grandparent, and my family, everything from kindergarten to college. Also included all of my boys first haircut, sonograms, all babies birth certification. She thrown it away because she claimed god told her to make sacrifices. What a ******' bitch.

Tell me you got it all back?

Oh, please say you got them all back. And also say that she got committed!

So my brother is doing the same thing for his girls, including keeping pics from his first wedding (he says that the kids "need to know we loved each other at one point") and other momentos that include their mother/his ex. Wife #2 certainly isn't elated by it, but she would never throw it away! I agree with the people saying to consider dumping him...

I'd be single after a stunt like that. You don't need that level of bs and unwarranted jealousy in your life.

That's abusive. Throw him in the dumpster. You'll feel so much better with a real man who accepts you and your past just as you are.

Your partner sounds possessive, likely to only lead you into depression. Get rid of him for your benefit. Although, it doesn't eliminate his violation of your privacy, I'm curious as to how this box was labeled.

Why didn't you tell him about the box to begin with??

I don't see where it was his business. It had nothing to do with him and it was HER property for HER daughter.
