Today, and for sometime, my husband and I have been discussing owning a home - a house or an apartment or other options. I've always wanted to live in a house, but I'm 100% sure I can't keep up with the chores or keep it clean. An apartment I can manage to clean, but not a house. I told him my vote is for apartment. FML

Today, I realized I'm so tired of cleaning houses all day to come home to a dirty house that I don't have the energy to clean. I need to hire my own cleaning lady. FML
Today, it seems that getting an apartment with a couple was a bad idea. They agree on everything, so my opinion never seems to matter. FML
Today, my boyfriend threw a fit because I "still" live with my mother at age 30. I bought her an apartment in my building and hired a live-in nurse because she is senile and permanently bedridden. FML
Today, we're in the middle of remodeling our bathroom and the hallway of our apartment. We hired a great guy and he does a really good job, but there's a lot of dust and no way to clean properly until everything is done. My wife is pissed with me because I work from home and don't clean everything every day. FML
Today, after months of looking, my fiancé and I finally signed a lease. We are using my savings to pay for it. This apparently poses a "moral dilemma" for my in-laws, who think we should wait to be married. I'm paying for an apartment I'm not allowed to live in. FML
Today, I talked to my husband about leaving his parents' house. He said, and I quote, ''No. I don't want the responsibility of paying bills.'' FML
Today, I asked my girlfriend of 8 years if we should get a bigger place. She responded by insisting she get her own place. FML
Today, after losing my job, my apartment and my man, I had to move back in with my mom, at 37. She’s a total slob; I can’t function without clean, organized spaces. So, hey, at least I have a new full-time job now: cleaning up after her. FML
Today, after a year of living with my boyfriend at our new place, he told me that he wants to sell our house and live in a trailer, so he can be closer to his mom. FML
Today, I woke up to my apartment in a state of total disarray. I've been asking my boyfriend to get either get a job, or clean the house. I just had a bunch of dental work taken care of. He doesn't have a job, and doesn't want to find one. I'm tired of trying to raise an already grown man. FML

You are fortunate to have the wherewithal to buy a home! There exist huge apartments and small houses, if square foot cleaning is an issue. Housecleaners might be less expensive than you think; same with lawn care. Lots to think about. This is a fun part of being an adult!

Cleaning a whole house does suck! Great points to look at. And having extra space, just to have extra space. Sometimes not worth it

With a house purchase, you will also own the land it is on. But you will also be liable for external repairs and land maintenance. An apartment purchase will possibly mean that you will never own the land and may have to pay yearly maintenance fees but will never have to pay out for a big external repair. Please, if you are looking at an apartment, check what the outside cladding is made from. Grenfell in the UK was horrible.

You know, there are different sizes of houses. I myself got an apartment and a house (because of some insurance payout I got after I was involved in a car accident). The house is two stories and 60 square metres in base surface, and if you just decide it needs doing and get to it, it doesn't take that long. So I say you should try for a house, you might surprise yourself!

its nice for someone to think about these things… no one ever does, can tell they have lived on their own before 🤣 always choose whats practical, not what looks nice
