Today, I tried to tell a kid he couldn't skate without a helmet. He called me a Karen and pushed me into a fountain, so I called the cops. The cops arrived and questioned the kid, who said I deserved it for being a Karen. They accepted that, and told me to stop harassing kids. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, a punk-looking college kid was making fun of my mentally handicapped son. Out of anger, I punched him in the face. I got handcuffed and thrown into a police car. The kid stood there laughing and pointing at me. FML
Today, I saw a kid getting bullied; a girl was hitting him in the head. After having an inner struggle with what to do, I tried to stop them. Both kids then turned on me, and called me a "hippo". FML
Today, my child was refusing to leave the playground. I had to pry her, screaming and crying, from the monkey bars. I then realized I had been assaulting someone else's kid. FML
Today, I was fired because a patron complained that she didn't like the way I kept staring at her kids. I was a lifeguard. FML
Today, I noticed I was overcharged at a fast food place, so I asked the cashier to correct it. He got an attitude, so I asked for the manager. The next thing I know, some dude shoved me, yelling, "Shut the fuck up Karen." I fell and hit my head. People in line laughed and cheered. FML
Today, at the pool, a kid no older than 8 was sitting on the diving board, not letting anyone else use it. I went over and tried to reason with him, but he wouldn't listen. My uncle stormed over, said "I got this!" and punted him over the edge. We both got thrown out for "bullying" the kid. FML
Today, after parking in the handicapped spot of a lot with my placard, an older couple with their 7-year-old grandchild came up and yelled at me for being a lying asshole and taking the parking spot. When I showed them my prosthetic leg, the kid started crying and guess who got yelled at again. FML
Today, I went skiing. On the first run of the day, a little girl came out of nowhere and crashed into me. I was fine, but she was hurt, so I called the ski patrol. She told him that I deliberately hit her, and got me kicked out. I was there for 10 minutes. I paid for all day. FML
Today, I was security at a shopping centre and tried to stop a guy from drinking in public. He told me to fuck off and "go play cops and robbers somewhere else", so I tried to escort him to the security office. He picked me up with one hand and threw me in the fountain. My boss let him go with a warning. I hate my job. FML
Today, I took my child to the park. Having been there an hour, another mum came up to me and we started talking. She then told me that one kid had been harassing her children, pointing to my child. When she asked which one was mine I pointed to a random kid. It was hers. FML

If you're not their parent or they're not in an area supervised by you where rules are enforced (skate rink etc) leave 'em be. If they smash their skulls open, that's a them problem.

I mean, you definitely didn't deserve to be pushed into the fountain either way, and the cops were definitely assholes for not taking the shoving seriously. But as to the Karen remark, there is an important point of clarification here: Were you a responsible authority for the area/activity? Like, if you're liable if he got hurt, then, yeah - Totally your business to make sure he's wearing a helmet and enforcing any rules of the place. But if you're just some well-meaning busybody, you really had no authority beyond encouraging him to wear proper safety gear for his own benefit. Attempting to obstruct him in any other fashion would have been out-of-line Karen behaviour [Which, again, didn't deserve physical violence against you].

Bear in mind we are only hearing the Karen's side of this story. Karen's won't accept that they did anything wrong, so it's quite possible that she got physical with the kid first. In which case a physical but not harmful response was perfectly justified. Given the way the police did nothing about it, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's what happened.

If you knew the kid or it was your job, it would be okay. But if it was just some random kid, stay out of it. You didn't deserve to be pushed into a fountain by the little punk, but next time, if it's not someone you know or your job, just leave it alone.
