Date night
Today, I finally mustered up the guts to ask this girl I like to dinner and a movie. She agreed on the terms that she could bring someone, and I'd said it wouldn't be a problem. When I met up with her a few hours later, I found out she'd brought her boyfriend. FML

I hope you paid for both of them. That's the least you do when your Gaydar malfunctions, and you hit on a breeder.

Clearly the attraction was just superficial, otherwise you would have know that A) not only was she not a lesbian, but B) she had a boyfriend. Get to know someone before you make a move in the future.

dude she used you. Going forward you control the interactions with women. Dont let her pull that crap! Instead hold her accountable for her crap. I wouldve called her out in front of her bf.

OP is not a dude.

Did anybody notice that the OP is female?

Why would it matter if she's female or not?

Maybe he said that because several people already referred to the OP as a boy.

No illmatic2, people point this stuff out whenever there's an FML that involves a girl who has a crush on another girl. And KaySL, I agree with your comment, and the term "dicksplash" made me laugh out loud.

Zenti, I know. But it is a possibility.

Wow 24, calm down a bit, the OP's gender could have a small play in the FML. If she didn't check to see if the girl she was asking out was bi or a lesbian, then it's a YDI, and seeing how she didn't know she had a boyfriend then most likely she just assumed she was a lesbian, which is a boneheaded thing to do, because a vast majority of the world is heterosexual. And, as number 27 pointed out, he may have just wanted people to know her sex, because almost everyone prior to his comment referred to the OP as a "he".

76, I couldn't agree more. 24 even said that (s)he wouldn't bother giving him the "benefit of the doubt". (S)he treated him like a murderer just off of a loose assumption, and being able to "kick somebody's ass" is nothing to boast about in a situation like this. Is this FML about boxing? Ever hear the saying "The one who strikes first admits they lost the argument"?

So....are you lesbian? Or did you just accidentally put female?

Lesson learned. Next time, make it clear that your invitation is a date for two only.

I kinda thought the whole point of asking someone out on a casual date was to get to know them better. It's hard to get to know someone on a personal level if you only ever talk to them at work/school. Besides, why would you wait to make your move? So someone else can come along and ask them out first?
