Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I caught my dad stealing my money again, after I'd warned him he was on his last chance. I threw him out, since he’s been sleeping rough on my sofa. He reported me to the authorities for "elder abuse" and showed them fresh bruises I know the conniving old bastard gave himself. I was handcuffed. FML
Today, my father is living with me because he's broke, but sometimes he has temper tantrums and calls me a son of a bitch. I can't stand to be name-called when I support him 1000%, and then we got into a violent physical fight. We both end up hurt, so I want to kick him out of my house, but I can't because he won't leave. FML
Today, I told my dad I want to enlist in the army and he tried to lock me in my room. He did almost the same thing when I told him I wanted to do certain college courses to make it easier to become a police officer, only there was a lot more swearing and throwing of objects. FML
Today, my dad forced me to leave my empty shopping cart in the middle of a store, rather than return it to the corral. My dad’s word is law, and all I can think about is how much of an asshole I am. FML
Today, I'm being evicted from my apartment for not paying rent. My father is the on-site landlord, meaning I now have to move my stuff downstairs into his place, and hear every day how I'm a failure. FML
Today, and for the past week, I've been incredibly on edge because apparently my dad is kicking me out but I don't know when, and my mom has told me I'm not allowed to tell anyone. She then got mad at me because I did. FML
Today, I asked my foster parents to adopt me. They said no because my dad's getting out of prison soon. FML
Today, I finally had it out with my abusive father. I spent almost an hour detailing about how he constantly humiliates me in public, treats me like slime, and hits me at random when he's in a bad mood. His response was, "Quit being such a wimp" because I'm "not female." Mom took his side. I'm 16 and can't move out. FML
Today, my dad called me a "deadbeat loser" after I came back from my first day of voluntary rehab for my meth problem. He's never had a job in his life and sits on the sofa all day, smoking weed and playing video games, all on my mom's salary. FML
Today, my dad tried to confiscate my car keys because he doesn’t like how late I stay out on the weekends. I’m 26, have owned my own home since I was 24, and also how the fuck does he know what time I get home? My own dad is stalking me. FML

Honestly, getting out of that environment is probably the best thing for you. If your dad can’t be supportive it’s better you don’t have him in your life until he can get behind your very commendable aspirations. Is there a friend you could stay with, or can you afford a place on your own? If not maybe a roommate? Good luck to you OP, I hope everything works out in the end.

There are times when it’s best not to share everything with parents. Get out, get on your own, and then follow your dream… By the way, in the USA you cannot kick out your children if they are under 18. But no doubt jailbird Dad could make it miserable living there.

Why would you want such a terrible job? The pay is terrible and society as a whole doesn't like and respect them. Enough people believe that police are a necessary evil, but there are few who admire them. You should upgrade your ambition to telemarketer.

Oh man. An ex-con living with a police officer in training is almost as traumatic as a vegan activist living in the same neighborhood as a barbecue place!
