Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, due to a scheduling error, I spent an entire day and night in an airport, over 30 hours in total. Just as I arrived at the gate, I was informed that my flight had been delayed for another 2 hours. FML
Today, I set my alarm for 3:30 AM to catch an early flight. I got up, got dressed, and arrived at the airport in record time. While checking in, I was told that my flight is tomorrow morning. I’m now wide awake and sitting in a 24-hour diner, having a very early breakfast. FML
Today, I waited patiently in the airport as my flight was repeatedly delayed. After 5 long hours I approached one of the attendees to discover that the plane had left 5 minutes ago. FML
Today, I woke up at 3am to catch my flight back home, only to realize that my flight was pushed back 14 hours. FML
Today, I arrived at the airport two and a half hours early because I was expecting it to be busy. The line was long but I had plenty of time, until a woman complained about a fee for checked bags. I was next in line, and still managed to miss my flight because the woman caused such a big scene. FML
Today, I checked in for my flight, made it through TSA, bought food, and sat at the gate for an hour. I only realized I was sitting at the wrong gate when boarding for another flight finished and everyone had left. I ran to the correct gate, but it was too late. Despite me pleading, the plane was already taxiing to the runway. FML
Today, I was stuck at the airport overnight waiting for my flight for about 5 hours. I then went and looked at the departures board. It said that my flight had already departed. FML
Today, I spent the busiest travel day of the year in the busiest airport in the world trapped between the decision to leave the terminal bathroom or shit my pants. Yes, I missed my flight. Sorry, mom. FML
Today, I woke up to the realization that the 2-hour nap I wanted to take before I went out with my friends last night was actually a 12-hour nap. I missed everything. FML
Today, after being a few minutes late to work a few times this week, I left the house super early this morning. When I got to work, security hadn’t unlocked the doors yet, so I waited in my car, where I ended up falling asleep and sleeping through most of my entire morning shift. FML

#15 Irony. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

In hind sight I realize it was not the proper terminology for the situation.

OP here, created an account just to reply to you guys. Yes alarms are wonderful, but three nights in an exam filled week with little sleep helped me fall asleep when I wasn't planning to :). The only upside is I got where I wanted to :)

No offense OP, but falling asleep in an airport seems like a very poor idea. Maybe you should've tried harder to stay awake.

True. I've seen airport police wake people and tell them to watch their luggage, they've even yelled at me for leaving my bag six feet away as I bought a coffee. At least in Australia and New Zealand anyway.
