Today, it's my daughter’s 18th birthday. Today is also the day that my husband told me he’s leaving me for her, and he wants a divorce. When I threatened to press charges for potentially grooming her as a minor, he told me I don’t have a leg to stand on because, “She’s been at the age of consent anyway.” FML
Today, I found out my husband has been messaging younger girls on Tinder and trying to meet up. I asked him why he would do such a thing when we have a healthy sex life. His response was ,“They’re just hotter, just like that senior football player you cheated on me with in sophomore year high school.” We’re 40 now. FML
Today, the love of my life, who I’ve finally been able to date after so long, broke up with me. I met her parents for the first time and they don’t approve of me dating her due to our age gap. She’s 18 and I’m 36. Apparently they don’t understand that she’s a consenting adult and can make her own choices. FML
Today, I had to break up with my boyfriend because we’re not on the same page. He doesn’t want to get married or have kids because he “wants to enjoy his youth” and “you’re only young once, don’t waste it!” He’s 38. FML

(1) 26 is not a “child”. If both are happy then age is not a problem. … (2) I believe the expression is “should have put a ring on it”. Yes, I know it sucks getting dumped from a long term relationship. But failure to commit tells you something - And you just discovered that your partner was still “shopping”.

(1) 26 is not a “child”. If both are happy then age is not a problem. … (2) I believe the expression is “should have put a ring on it”. Just gonna put it out there that OP and her partner have been together for at least 33 years, given the age of their shared eldest child. Also, marriage doesn't mean commitment. A cheater will always cheat. Also x2, 26 year-olds can definitely still be children. Getting older does not mean people mature. Case in point, the Big Orange Baby having a tantrum every time he doesn't immediately get what he wants. This is all on OP's ex.
