Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I finally found out why my graphics card in my PC had been overheating recently. My brother disconnected the card's fan because it was too loud when he was gaming. I guess I can always spend another $750. FML
Today, I bought myself my first gaming PC for Christmas. After two hours of setting it up, I proceeded to spill a full cup of coffee in to it and slowly watched it die. I'm an electronic technician so I knew better then to have my coffee anywhere near it. FML
Today, I took the motherboard out of my computer so I could put more RAM and a new video card in. While I was in the bathroom my mom threw it all out because it 'looked like garbage'. FML
Today, I opened up my laptop to replace a faulty chip inside, which took me half an hour. When I closed it all up again, I saw the replacement part in its packaging on my desk. FML
Today, I was mad at my boyfriend, so I yanked the power cord for his computer while he was gaming. Turns out, that fried part of his computer and now it won't turn on. He broke up with me, even after I apologized, and offered to replace the part. FML
Today, in an attempt to be frugal, I tried to repair my own sometimes-faulty toaster. Turns out I unplugged the wrong kitchen appliance, which I only discovered by electrocuting myself while pulling it apart. Now it's definitely broken, will need replacing, and I have a burn. FML
Today, I tried to vacuum to surprise my mom with a clean house. The vacuum started shorting out, sparked, and then burst into flames mid living room. FML
Today, after I had finished vacuuming, I ripped the cord out of the outlet and it hit me in the face cutting both my top and bottom lip. FML
Today, while working on my laptop, I accidentally spilled a glass of water. I quickly moved my laptop out of the way of the oncoming stream. It fell on the floor and broke. FML
Today, I tried to fix my laptop charger by fiddling around with it using metal tweezers. Not only did I forget to unplug the cord and shocked myself, I also ended up breaking the charger completely. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

I am betting the problem was not the air blown on the processor heat sink but some stray piece of hardware like a loose screw that shorted out something on the motherboard. Sometimes people are sloppy with the hardware. I am an electronic engineer and I never saw anything actually damaged by blowing air on it unless it moved a loose piece of metallic hardware into a place where it shorted out something. An even more probable failure mode is a loose connection or a plug in component not properly seated that got jiggled while trying to blow out the dust. Make sure the memory modules are properly seated and the connectors and plug in modules are fully and properly seated. Of course if you smelled something smoke and burn then game over unless you are proficient at electronics - Take it to someone who is proficient.

I hope you didn't ACTUALLY blow on it. Breath has MOISTURE. That's what canned air is for, and it's usually much more effective.

hopefully not compressed air, it creates static and that frys electronics

did you try removing the CMOS battery having the BIOS reset that way and then putting the GPU back in place?
