Today, a classmate posted a recording of a recent lecture on my university's Facebook page, so we could listen again and take notes at home. A few minutes in, I heard myself asking a question. I then heard snorting and some girl muttering "dumb cunt" under her breath. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, after our teacher had said this class would be very important and that we should take notes, instead of writing notes, I brought a recorder to class. After class, I listened to the recording, and all I could hear was muffled voices. FML
Today, I worked up the courage to ask a question in a packed lecture hall. The professor repeated my question, except he'd misheard me and rephrased it into something wildly incorrect. The class laughed. Instead of correcting him, I nodded. Now half the class thinks I don’t understand the difference between correlation and causation. FML
Today, during an online class, I forgot to mute myself while trying to get my dog to poop. The whole class, including my professor, heard me sing “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa to motivate her. They all had many questions when I came back on camera. FML
Today, I was having a mass lecture, for 3 classes combined, all microphones muted. I wanted to go to the toilet, so I connected my headphones, and I did my job massively while listening to the teacher. Suddenly, the teacher said, "Oh, close your mic for the love of god." 85 students heard me taking a shit. FML
Today, as a teaching assistant, I somehow uploaded my personal notes instead of the lecture slides. My “notes” included reminders like “slow down, idiot”, “this makes no sense”, and “students will hate this part.” Several students emailed me saying they appreciated the honesty. I would've appreciated the ground opening and swallowing me whole. FML
Today, at university, I worked up the courage to speak up in a lecture hall of 200 people. I raised my hand, made my point, and felt pretty good until the professor said, “That’s exactly what I said like five minutes ago.” Half the room turned to look at me like I'd just woken up from a nap mid-class. Which I had. FML
Today, I gathered the courage to participate in a class discussion. My professor laughed at me. FML
Today, during my online class, I was answering my professor's question when my older sister slammed open the door to loudly say, "WHAT'S UP CHICKEN FUCKER?" My class heard. I hate online school. FML
Today, I had a nasty cough, but I went to college anyway. When I walked into class, I could practically smell menstrual blood in the air. After a few coughs, our instructor gave me an "Oh, shut up!" After half an hour, she kicked me out for not "taking the class seriously". FML
Today, I was in sociology class and I raised my hand to ask a question, not realizing that the professor was right behind me. I smacked him right in the face, no doubt reducing my chances of a good grade. FML

Oh jeeze. I have a massive biology lecture with 270 students, and there is this girl who sits in front and constantly asks irrelevant or absurd questions. The entire class makes fun of her behind her back. I'd hate to see what came up in a recording with her asking questions. Poor thing, people are so impatient.

To be fair, a lot of professors discourage questions being asked in lectures for this very reason. It holds up the lecture and if there are a lot of people there, they don't want multiple people interrupting the lecture. Usually they recommend all questions be asked in the smaller tutorial/discussion class.

Yes, but there is no smaller tutorial or discussion class for this course, and the professor encourages questions. She needs to go see the professor during office hours, and he has gently been nudging her in that direction for the past few lectures and she has gotten better. What makes the situation bad is the fact that a class of 270 people all hate her and jump down her throat behind her back for trying to learn, and they see nothing wrong with the fact that they call her an idiot, and numerous other less polite things yet they know nothing about her. That isn't okay. If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing is my point of view in the situation just like with the OP.
