Today, my soon to be mother-in-law sent me a birthday present. It was a necklace for me to wear at my wedding. The pendant is a well known lesbian symbol. I'm a woman and I'm marrying her son. FML

Well known lesbian symbol ? I dont know any lesbian symbols ...

I bet you cry "First!" when you're having sex, too...

You need to ask your fiancee about this... if it turns out to be nothing, she probably just didn't know.

I'm guessing it's the two interlocked female symbols, like the one somebody linked at http://www.glyni.org.uk/assets/images/being_gay_grphx/sym_les.gif (♀♀). I think an older person unfamiliar with the ♀ and ♂ symbols could legitimately think that ♀♀ looks like two people side-by-side, ready to spend their lives together, and thus perfect for a wedding.

Burn a bra at the afterparty. Make sure it's one of hers.

I'm a lesbian and forgot what 'well known symbol' you meant till it was mentioned here... and I didn't know there was a lesbian fairy at all. Maybe I fail at gay culture, but perhaps ur straight mother in law just didn't know. if you get along in general, assume she really is clueless. if you don't get along, then maybe it's a problem.

I've heard that a dolphin is considered a lesbian symbol. Was it a dolphin? Because those are popular jewelry items, especially in Florida!

It could be possible she don't know what it means. My grandmother does stuff like that. She bought all her kids a small figure in Mexico several years ago. It appears two people are wrestling. They are actually having sex. She never knew until it was pointed out. So ask her about it. It could be just an honest mistake.
