To clear everything up: - they were dirty dishes going into the wash so it didn't really matter - I still have some dishes, but half of them are gone

If you had bought Corelle dishes, you'd still have dishes. Lasts longer than ceramic takes a whole to break. I've dropped so many Corelle plates and bowls and they were just fine.

My dog has done the exact same thing. On the bright side, he scared himself so much that he's never gone near the dishwasher again, so hopefully it's only a one time thing for you too!
You are a complete moron. A dog should NEVER be allowed to lick dishes from the dish washer. It is dangerous, they can cut themselves, get their collar stuck, get paws stuck, and most importantly eat something that can be harmful to them. You completely deserve this, I just hope the dog didn't get hurt.

My dog has done that before! It scared the heck out of me. So glad he wasn't hurt! But he scared the shit out of himself.. Literally lol
