Today, I went into work. After three years of working 55 hours a week they fire me by putting the contents of my locker at the front door that said "if not picked up by 10:00 am stuff will be donated." I work the night shift. I just lost three sweaters, two pairs of shoes, $60 and my job. FML

#6 and 7- he found out he was fired because they put his stuff by the door. reason for termination is yet unknown. OP- that sounds very unprofessional of your job. might even violate some business laws. not a lawyer but I would look into it just in case.

IDK how it is up north of us, but down here you'd have a hefty lawsuit on your hands.

Yea, over here you'd be able to sue them for unfair dismissal But I think that it's either fake, or there's more to it than that

Ahh ok I get it now. And does this apply for all employees in Canada. I think the US has something like this too, but i am not sure what its called.

check into the case, OP, because if there's not reason for dismissal, you can sue the pants off your employers.

you must have had a few warnings before, no company will fire you without a really good reason. Then again... it depends on the type of job you do. 55hrs night shifts I'm guessing, you worked as a night guard. Did you steal something, or were you sleeping in the job.

I don't really understand why you were fired.

Or was it for a reason unrelated to you putting your stuff by the door?

Sounds like we're only hearing one side of the story. Either the OP was fired for something REALLY bad, or he was given ample notice (maybe he didn't bother to check his messages, maybe he was just being lazy). It seems unlikely a company would do this for no reason at all.

Be glad you're outta there and find someplace that respects it's workers.
