I'm sorry, but I feel like I've heard something like this before.
You have.

I'm not getting WHY someone should tip him for giving directions, though.
@14, The FML you're referring to is about a worker at starbucks who doesn't get tipped, this is about a Valet driver, sitting out in the pouring rain not getting any customers, giving a woman directions, and not getting tipped for it. How are they similar?

@#21, that was the post I was thinking of. It's the same story line of "I should totally tip you" and then they leave without it.
It's just in a different situation. It's definitely similar though, just not identical, and all I said was that it reminded me of something, you've never been reminded of something even more random? wow
Eh, not a big deal. You chose that job and valets aren't known to make much money.
The only part I think is an FML is being out in the rain. I HATE when people say, "Well I should pick that up" or "I should do this" and then don't. If you think you should but don't want to, don't mention it. Not an FML, you get a paycheck, people are not required to give you more money.
agree seriously ! if you wont to .dont say ..
YDI for not shooting her tyres out so she would need a ride. Hasn't GTA taught you anything?
wat
why would she tip you for directions? she was making a joke by noticing that you are getting no customers. It's called normal human interaction.
In this situation my:
YDI = You're an idiot
Too bad "an" doesn't start with a "D" huh?
YDI means you /DESERVE/ it.
You
Deserve
It
If it was "You're an idiot", the acronym would be YAI.
I should make a comment about this FML

No wonder valets thieve!!!!
she was teasing you in a friendly manner, not trying to give you false hope. you gave her directions you are not entitled to a tip just cause no one else has came. you will still make at least min. wage on your check, you are dumb if you rely heavily on tips.
Oh, no! I didn't get tipped for helping a lady out! Whaaah!
YDI for expecting people to give you money.
i hate people who work for tips. all they do is whine about how their tips suck no matter how much they make. well have you looked in the mirror and realize how much you suck ?
This is why I hate strippers. They come over in their little thongs and expect me to put money into it. I don't think so. I don't make money walking around in my underware so why are they so fucking special? Don't they know I am not into girls? Guess not.
That said, to make a point, Op you are a valet, yeah it sucks. Sure you feel like you are degraded and underappreciated. But life is not always about doing what you want. You could have it worse, have no resources, or hope, and have to work degrading jobs selling your dignity, pride, and body. I think strippers and hookers, women who have no choice, who are forced onto the streets because life is horrible, have it worse than you. THey don't get min. wage or the choice to quit, you seem like you do. You have a computer and electricity, enough to get onto FML and complain. You don't see those women on here. It makes me think your problem is not that big if you have the time and resources to complain.
edit: yes i know not all strippers are destitude, perhaps some like it. Also, sure strippers can quite, but they don't always have the money or resources too.

Why would she tip you? She's not even your customer. You only gave her some directions, which is quite normal if someone asks for it. But I think it is really nice of you that you give a tip every time you are being given directions. You are so kind! Your life really failed because you didn't get a dollar from that woman.
You could have really quickly made a small change in the directions. Oh! Before you go I forgot you have to make a right on Rivers Rd. just as an example. She could have tipped you knowing the kind of night youwere having fromthe weather.

apparently a large number of people are too stupid to understand this fml...
@OP, i think you just got out FML'ed by the commenters.
YDI for expecting a tip, and hating your life for not getting one.
That's why I hate jobs that rely on tips. Most people don't know this but in some service jobs, things had been so plush in the past that some companies have relied on paying nearly all of wages from tips. I worked this summer in one of those companies. I had a few days where I was on call all day for 8 hours for a grand total of $3.45. Granted I was sitting in my car doing nothing, but it was still pretty brutal when you have bills to pay.
