Man or woman?

Today, I returned home from college and saw a framed picture of my parents and my younger sister on an elephant in an exotic jungle. I pointed to the picture and asked my mom, "Is this some photoshop job?" She responded, "No, we went to Thailand for a family trip, didn't we tell you?" FML

Oh man..I'm sorry to hear that

#2 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:04am by dude

I dont understand how people can still say that you deserve this.. you helped a old guy stop voting for that.

#3 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:04am by gfdgd

WOW, F your life.

#4 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:13am by bobdole

That sucks. Sorry about that.

#5 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:19am by Ryan

Graduate college and never see them again. If you're dead enough to them not to be invited to go to Thailand, you might as well not bother to talk to them anymore.

#6 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:19am by gpb

Well, you were in school, though, right?

#7 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:21am by Capybara

#3 ??? read it again.

Holy shit!! they forget to tell you they went on A FAMILY trip??
That sucks real hard. I feel sorry for you.

#9 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:32am by mr. pink

There's no chance this was sarcasm?

#10 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:32am by Dan

And they didn't even bring you back a lousy t-shirt?

#11 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:42am by PJ

I understand that you were in school and possibly not able to go, but you'd think they'd at least tell you about it! I hear all about my cousins' trips all over the place...wow. F your life indeed.

#12 - On 02/20/2009 at 11:08am by whoa

#3 - wtf...

Anyway, yes. This sucks major balls. Wtf. I think this is either a lie, or you have the worst family ever.

#13 - On 02/20/2009 at 12:21pm by Amkii

I'm so sorry, well you can spite them with kindness!!

#14 - On 02/20/2009 at 12:26pm by Jmhusky53

Holy crap, that is so unbelievably horrible. Screw who ever says "Oh you are in school, you couldn't have gone." Your family should tell you when they do something so huge, and if your younger sister went, they still pulled her out of her school, even if it was grade school, long enough to go on some epic elephant adventure.

#15 - On 02/20/2009 at 12:41pm by yay!

I had something similar happen to me. My dad went to India " on business" and couldn't bring my brother and me. He came back remarried with two new children. We never saw it coming but apparently it had been in the works for over a year

#16 - On 02/20/2009 at 12:44pm by alwaysalady

Umm, how often do you call your family? Because you'd think after a week or two of getting no answer on the phone you'd figure something was up.

Not that what they did was okay, or anything. In fact, it was really shitty.

#17 - On 02/20/2009 at 12:45pm by Spinach

well that either shows your family members are douches...
or you need to keep in touch with them more while you're gone at college.

#18 - On 02/20/2009 at 1:35pm by mish831

grow up. i missed 3 of my cousins' weddings. should i expect them to reschedule?

#19 - On 02/20/2009 at 1:43pm by know your role

Blame your sister. I'll bet it was her fault. When my older brother was in college, my family moved to a new house about a mile away. I tried to convince my parents not to tell my brother we were moving. If my parents were like your parents, my brother would have come home to find strangers living in his house.

#20 - On 02/20/2009 at 2:25pm by badsibling

Wow that is fucked. Pretty sure you're still part of the family when you go off to college. You're not in school 365 days of the year - they could have waited until summer or winter break so you could go with them. But even if that didn't work out, they should have at least told you.

@19 - Weren't you at least invited to the weddings, even if it didn't work with your schedule? I had to miss one of my cousin's wedding too, and she and everyone else were telling me how much they wished I could be there. The OP wasn't even told about the trip.

#21 - On 02/20/2009 at 2:32pm by wt

Although yea it does kinda suck they forgot to tell you, but I know when my brother was is college. My parents took me on trips when it was just of three of us and him excluded.

#22 - On 02/20/2009 at 2:38pm by vikingdevil53

You go long enough without talking to them that you miss something like this? Maybe that's your problem, this would never happen to many people, maybe you need to work on your relationship. I think you deserved it.

#23 - On 02/20/2009 at 3:12pm by drprince89

At least you'll have college :D

#24 - On 02/20/2009 at 3:22pm by sven

You're at college... Maybe they did tell you and you were just drinking too hard that week to remember. :p

#25 - On 02/20/2009 at 3:47pm by heh

It does suck being the oldest, a lot of the time. I was 4 when my little sister was born. The only family trip we went on before she was born was to a family reunion the next province over. Now, I'm in university. It would suck if she got to go on vacation with my parents and I didn't. I totally feel for you.

#26 - On 02/20/2009 at 4:16pm by Hannah

Whatever. Your family doesn't have to take your ass everywhere they go. Do you take your family everywhere you go? I'm in college and I go on trips without my family all the time and I don't get pissed when I don't get to go somewhere because I'm in school.
Additionally, your parents taking a younger sibling who's still in high school or grade school is really not as big of a deal as missing class in college.

#27 - On 02/20/2009 at 5:38pm by WhySoSassy?

Oh, man. I can't believe stuff like this happens :( Oh and the guy above me probably wasn't breast-fed as a baby.

#28 - On 02/20/2009 at 6:12pm by sully67215

well, if you must know, i was invited via them telling my parents, whereas my parents would then tell them that i can't go because i'm busy with school without relaying the message to me.

#29 - On 02/20/2009 at 7:10pm by know your role

i would kill my entire family if they did that to me.
KILL THEM.
I hate it when they go to a restaurant without me. But i go to university in our home town haha so they have
NO EXCUSE.

#30 - On 02/20/2009 at 7:16pm by shamille

#27, they're not pissed they didn't get to go. They're pissed 'cuz they didn't even KNOW the family went!

I could see how there's a major communication problem (on BOTH ends), but it doesn't excuse the fact that the family didn't at least try to call and say, "Hey, we're going out of town for a bit." My mom calls me almost every day, no matter what--even if I don't answer the phone for a few days straight. I'd know if they went to Thailand (and, hell, they'd probably invite me, or give me a good reason as to why I can't go and my little bro can). So yeah... total crap. Sorry. :(

#31 - On 02/20/2009 at 7:39pm by DrewKolar

I can only dream I was as detached from my family as you. I want them to leave me the fuck alone more.

#32 - On 02/20/2009 at 9:29pm by nkon

I felt sorry for you at first and then I thought about it. I call my mom at least twice a day. You must clearly never call your family because if you did, you would have known, no excuses. They care enough about you to pay for your tuition, you could at least pay them back with a phone call. But yeah, they should've called you too, so it's not completely your fault.

#33 - On 02/20/2009 at 10:03pm by blah

yeah, i would know if my family went to thailand.. work on communication- it's key

#34 - On 02/21/2009 at 3:46am by d_dh2310

That is crazy! I'm in college and my family is working family trips around my schedule so I can go! They wouldn't go without me!!
Actually they would... but not somewhere far and exotic like Thailand. Maybe to Arizona... and I would know all about it. Most likely get a call before they leave and after they land.

Should call home more often. I call once a week at a scheduled time.

#35 - On 02/21/2009 at 2:21pm by lemonsandlimes

Well, stop being such a bad child. If your parents wanted you like they wanted your sister then there would be no problem. Clearly you are just not good enough to be wanted. So try harder, lazyass.

#36 - On 02/21/2009 at 2:30pm by Greg

#19 - She didn't not go because she couldn't she wasn't even told about it by her own FAMILY! that's ridiculous and i'm sorry

#37 - On 02/21/2009 at 6:48pm by vdizzle

wowwww. that would suck beyond belief!
& that'd be me too..
i've been left at the mall for like 3 hours before bc they had to the groceries home that they went & got with out me...

#38 - On 02/21/2009 at 11:33pm by only_my_luck23

Fear not, your dad most likely caught some crotch-rotting STD from a Thai boytoy; by now, your mom likely has it too. When they die and you are your little sister's guardian, you can lock her in the basement and feed her fish heads for eternity.

Ahh, sweet justice.

#39 - On 02/22/2009 at 6:29am by HeartlessBastard

sounds like something my parents would do.

when i was in highschool (so still living with my parents) they went to jamacia. they were planing the trip for almost a year and I found out 2 weeks beforehand that my aunt was going to be staying with me.

I can see them not inviting you (you have school to worry about and getting behind is rough) but not telling you at all is harsh.

#40 - On 02/23/2009 at 4:27am by BJacobs

Ah, the joys of being the invisible child

#41 - On 02/28/2009 at 10:45pm by dysfunctional family

How can they not tell you about a FAMILY trip?! You're a part of the family! Damn that sucks!

#42 - On 03/01/2009 at 4:55pm by seriously17

that sucks hard!!

#43 - On 03/04/2009 at 6:46pm by kill_me

Being a college student as well, I understand that sometimes schedules conflict and they have to take trips without. However, I too would be horrified if I learned that my entire family had left the country and flown around the world without ever telling me.

You need to use this to your advantage at your next birthday or at Christmas.

#44 - On 03/08/2009 at 8:02am by gqduck

#19 and 27 are huge dicks and should never talk again. Ever. There is a difference between a once-in-a-lifetime, go across the planet trip and a lame ass wedding. And i don't know what the fuck trips #27 is going on that make Thailand look like a fucking bus ride but fuck their meaningless opinion anyway. Probably some spoiled loaded POS whose life has never been fucked up and found this site by mistake. I'm sorry OP. This is a real kick in the face. I would be mortified. I think it's about time to disown your parents.

#45 - On 03/31/2009 at 8:16am by Captainshit

This same thing happened to me only My dad, Step mom, little brother, and Grandma went to ISREAL for 2 weeks. They weren't going to tell me but my little brother spilled the beans casue he wanted to brag about it. They seriously favor him above me on any aspect. FML hardcore.

#46 - On 05/16/2009 at 9:34pm by Littlelee240

Wait, how old are you? Wow, They went on a trip and you didn't notice.

#47 - On 06/03/2009 at 3:46am by Kristofer

Man I can't beleive that. I would be livid! I would be beyond enraged! But then again, did you really miss much? It's Thailand- if it were me, I'll pass on monkeys and diseases and stuff like that. I'll take America or the carribbean anyday. Still that sucks man.

#48 - On 06/05/2009 at 12:08am by cmac86

Yo #48, I'm going to forgive you this time for insulting my favorite country in the world. Next time, think before you make a prejudiced presumption. Bangkok is one of the most amazing cities with many amazing malls! It is a shoppers paradise. As for the OP, I would've killed myself if my family went to Thailand without me.

#49 - On 08/06/2009 at 11:53am by Ayjun

I hate it when parents and relatives "forget" to tell you stuff... you feel very extremely left out afterwards
:(

#50 - On 09/23/2009 at 9:26pm by mucly

Yea, if my mom took my sister somewhere like that without telling me, they'd both get punched

#51 - On 09/26/2009 at 1:17pm by Aerobaby37

#5 I'm a Ryan to!! damn a common name.
