first!
retardedd... haha
I don't believe this fml because no one would get charged for a hit and run of they were at school.
yeah I think this is fake like ok law doesn't work like that. bill of rights. all that stuff

agreed with #5. No real, trained cop charges you with a hit and run event if you were in school and people seen you there. You may be a 'suspect', but that doesn't mean you are truely at fault.
it's his car, the cars in his name, or parents name.
For example in Hungary this can be real. It is callect objective responsibility (or something like that, I'm not a lawyer to translate the name properly).
If somebody uses your car and cause some accident, trouble, or break some rules, the cops will come to you. If you hadn't reported the theft of the car earlier, you get the penalt instead of the sinner. You can ask for fairness, but you can be unlucky.. You know, life is just a big FML.
It didn't use to be this some years ago, you could say any time that it wasn't you, a relative of you used the car, and according to the hungarian law you can't be forced to depose against a relative, and the cases were dropped. So the law had to be changeg...
Yeah, but he is from the USA. You can't charge someone for a crime they didn't commit
Actually, this exact same thing happened to me, it was an investigation that lasted for months because I had no concrete proof that I was at school. Eventually the investigator stated that there wasn't enough evidence and the case was let go, but yes, it can happen. :\
@63, yes you can CHARGE them with a crime if they committed it or not, they can charge you with anything, they are just not suppose to be able to convict you if you are innocent....

Do people really believe that the US law system is perfectly flawless? Hell, even the Supreme Court is a bastion of partisanship!
As to the OP, it's not your fault yet. You aren't guilty until proven to be so in a court of law. Anyway, this should be a really case to fight against.
no, not bill of rights retard, law procedure won't blame the op
or was this a tap 'n run case. where someone tapped ur mom and ur car was involved and it was ur fault
Oh please, do you really believe that people with power care about a silly piece of paper? No one respects the law anymore, no one respects common sense, the only thing people respect is the bottom line.
Yea, i really dont know for sure, but ive read the bill of rights in 3 of my classes, where does it say you cant be accused of a crime??? Maybe im just over looking it.....
what are you stupid? your saying people with power don't care abou a silly "piece of paper!?!??" If Obama didn't care about the constitution and bill of rights he could force every American to pay 2000 dollars in a random tax to pay off the u.s's debt. dumbshit our country is based on those pieces of paper
uh hello!! he said it wasn't him! someone must've stolen his car.

This is why courts exist... In court something called "proof" is required.
Assuming you're not lying, get a lawyer and start getting witness statements together ASAP.
is that even legal? cuz it's obvious u didn't do anything
Is what legal? is accusing the owner of a vehicle involved in a crime legal?
Of course it's legal to make an accusation, the trick is proving it. If the OP was really in class, proving that fact shouldn't be difficult...
well it's clear that his car wa stolen while hhe wa in class so what I'm saying is how could they charge him with a hit and run if he ha a solid alibi and witnesses(classmates an teachers) plus the fact that if he ha been involved how did he get back to school w/o his car and where was it? that's what I'm saying it jus seems like the cops were falsely charging him(not sure if that's the right way to phrase that)
You guys dont even realize, the cops suspect that the OP loaned her car to someone and she wont admit who it is. So they charge her with the crime hoping that she would rat out her friend. Thats why shes charged......
unfortunately they can charge the owner of the car. He will have to go to court to prove he was in class and find out who was drving it when the accident happened so the charges can be applied appropriately. But because his car was involved, his insurance rates will increase.
#4 no, it's not legal. OP has legal rights to sue the hell out of the cops for what they did to her. I'm calling fake though. Not even in Tenn would they be stupid enough to arrest someone that's been in school all day.
Fight it! That's total bullshit!!
I don't beleive this because you had an alliby and your teachers could verify this

Only in Tennessee. Time to move states, lady.

That seriously sucks. I'm sorry. :-( A similar thing happened to me once, except that I got blamed for sending cyberhate messages--which were sent while I was in ballet, by an email address that had my name misspelled. Nobody believed me except my mom and the two friends I told. So I completely empathize, OP.
i do believe you except you do grammar hate on fml. just sayin
Is that the only reason why people are constantly picking on Snickerdoodle? Weird.
In regards to the FML, I don't much believe it. You either weren't in class and distinctly lack an alibi or you were and they have to move on. The police get a lot of spiffy liberties for their jobs, but throwing whomever they want under without clear evidence otherwise isn't one of them.

There's only one possible explanation and it rhymes with blaliens.

bullshit. you have witnesses to say you were at school.
How the hell did that happen ?
Did your car get stolen on campus or had you failed to report it was missing to the police ?
Its damn weird.
Still, wouldn't be the first time police procedures override good old common sense, heh.
I'm starting to think Barney Fife is becoming the gold standard for the boys in blue nowadays.
#19 - On 02/09/2010 at 3:44am by shaister
I dont believe this FML because cops wouldnt charge you when you have an obvious alibi.
It is depend on which country... For example here in Hungary can happan similar thing :(
@ 71 but this FML is CLEARLY in the US, and here the laws don't work like that.
maybe it was your evil twin...
The fact that the police made an accusation does NOT mean it was your fault. It just means you will have to go to Court and prove you have an alibi (or, since you live in the US, I think it's possible for you to prove the DA that you have an alibi and he/she should drop the charges).
Don't worry OP, it will all work out.
I think your being at school counts as an alibi.

snickerdoodles you are really annoying throughout this whole fml site. no one cares about your bs story. if u wanted to share write your own fml
That would be a personal opinion that I'm strongly disagreeing with. Her story was completely related to the original FML and therefor was relevant for the comment. She may have tried said FML before and gotten nowhere like so many do or she doesn't feel the need to post an FML for something that wasn't so recent since all FMLs need to start with "today." Either way, your outburst at her obviously shows that she's getting to you and you need to step back from the computer and take a breather because nobody online should be upsetting you that much that you stalk them from FML to FML. It's doubtful that I'll even remember your username after this or that anyone else will, either. Is that why you're so upset? She's a big name on here and you most likely never will be. Any way you put it, there are responses to her comment that obviously struck some kind of interest and you, my dear, have only proven your ignorance and loathing to people you've never met. Congratulations.
I do believe Perfectwinds just laid the smackdown. >.>'

Snickerdoodles isn't so much a big name as she's just a grammar nazi.
If you want big names, go with mercyFML or Pendatic or blastvortex. Hell, even that guy with his abs as his picture is bigger than Snickerdoodles.
did she... it was too long so i didnt read it
the story is a bullcrap by law u cNt get charged maybe when u were making the story up u were in lala land and though there's no laws lol
I agree with #5, and that's as far as i read lol.
#27 - On 02/09/2010 at 4:17am by MissSparkie
i dont belive it too, you have proof that you werent there you were at school.
Sorry, but I call fake. That, or there's some serious editing going on, like "because there isn't currently a suspect my insurance is saying it's my fault and refusing to pay for the vehicle repairs"
And you obviously weren't, like, jailed or anything, seeing as how you were able to post to the site.
they don't usually jail you on suspicion of hit and run, unless you pulled a lizzie grubman and mowed down 15 ppl at a nightclub in the hamptons... esp if nobody was hurt. since the OP is a minor - i think- the cops don't think they know their rights. i have had many run-ins with the police in my day, and they think that telling u that ur goin to jail if you don't tell them what they want to hear is gonna scare you and make u spill the beans. just say the magic words 'I WANT AN ATTORNEY' even if you did nothing. it's funny how it pisses them off cause they have to quit talking to you at that point
#47 - On 02/09/2010 at 8:14am by princessjess420
Yeah, if they hauled you out of class to just talk, thats one thing. However, if they charged you, then they would need definitive proof that it was you, either some sort of video surveillance, eyewitness accounts, etc. Based upon what you stated, you should not be charged for something of that. The alibi of being in class would be sufficient to clear you of charges. Now, if it was still your car involved, then yes, further action may be needed, such as if you lent it to a friend for while you were in class, or if it was stolen. Could even be a case of a falsely identified vehicle. Or, in a different situation, they could be following up on an accident you may have been involved with at some time you werent in class...
get your priorities straight. you are going to jail, but posting on FML?
he's got some james bond shit with remote control drives it down the street hits the kid that stole his future ex then parks it
if you were in school you would have witnesses. So it's okay, you can use them to prove your innocence.
innocent until proven guilty
douche
either u have no life and made this up or ur cops are fags
any lawyer worth his retainer will get you off the charges.... they have no case. it would be like someone having their gun stolen and someone got shot with it and if they can't find the shooter, they blame the original owner. bullshit. they probably think you lent ur car out to a friend to cut class and want you to rat them out. cops say a lot of shit and try to talk a good game when interrogating. fuck cops!!!!!!!!!
#44 - On 02/09/2010 at 8:09am by princessjess420
the cops are a total load of bullshit!!
i refuse to believe this. you are lying, 100%.
no self-respecting cop would charge you without evidence to backup their accusations. They would have to let the case go cold if there was no one else.
better luck lying to us next time. asshole.
they may have ment for damages, I have a friend who was in this situation and her insurance had to cover damages
Fake. it wouldnt be the OP's fault if they didn't find someone.
This comment has been moderated.
Doesn't work like that in any state.
OP, have you ever read Christine or seen the movie?
You should probably talk really sweetly to your car from now on, you might also want to get it counseling for it's anger issues before some major shit goes down.
It's time to grammar nazi myself.
Sorry for the run-on sentence. Also, there should be no apostrophe in "its anger issues". I really, shouldn't read FMLs before lunch: I don't even start making sense until 2pm. The proof is in the proofreading, or lack thereof.
This comment has been moderated.
Haha. Yeah, right. I don't believe that for a second. Either they have reason to still suspect you or you're not telling us the real story. Either way, you're full of bull.
This is either fake, or OP isn't telling the whole story... i'm in law and this would never happen.
Well since all of your teachers knew you were in class and when, you have nothing to worry about. Sucks about your car, though.
I don't know why people are saying this is fake; it's most definitely believable. My junior (or senior; I can't remember really) year of high school there was some douchebag breaking into a bunch of peoples' cars in the parking lots and one of my friends actually had her car stolen. She reported it stolen and a week went by with no sign of it. One of her friends was driving her somewhere and they spotted her car - a few freaking blocks from the police station. She had her keys so she got in and was driving to the police station to let them know she found her car when a cop pulled her over and arrested her for driving a stolen car. It took a good half hour of screaming and crying to get the idiot cop to realize that it was, in fact, her car.
/Cool story bro

Your life isn't f'd because of the hit-and-run... your life is f'd because you're a moron with no common sense.
wow stupid cops!
#75 - On 02/09/2010 at 4:09pm by buttshapedfruit
Please, please fight this. It's wrong, and it could really haunt you. If you're a student, you probably qualify for your county's Legal Aid services.
People are saying that you diddnt report your car stolen, well if it was stolen at the start of your class i doubt that you go outside every 5 min to check if your car is there
So your car got stolen and the person hit someone, but decided to return your car to the original spot? Yeah, this post isn't fake or anything...
What if their car wasn't the one involved at all?
That happened to my brother. His car was in our open garage while he was SLEEPING. The cops came to our door and accused him of being in a hit and run and that the other person had followed him to our house and saw him go inside 10 mins earlier. My brother and everyone in our house explained that his car had been in the garage for the last 3 hours and he had been sleeping for the last 2. But, he had a teeny tiny scratch on his bumper while the whole side of the other car was smashed in. So what's the logical thing for the cops to do? Tell my brother they're going to take him to jail if he doesn't admit guilt and give him a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident (a felony in our state) apparently.
What part of TN are you in? I live there too and I could help you out for real.
same thing happened to me!
You killed my dog you murderer!!
PHONEY, this guy is a PHONEY!
You guys are idiots. OP said nothing about being arrested or charged. She only says that they questioned her. The owner of the car would definitely be the first on you'd ask questions if you had no other leads, right?
